This sounds really great. I guess these kinds of things always start the same way. Once you get over the first hurdle you always have a good time. I think they get easier the more you do them but I think that anyone going to these type of meet-ups alone will always worry about the same things.

I hear you about the timidity of going to a bar alone; it's something I'd struggle with as well. I've gone to a lot of restaurants by myself in the last couple of weeks in the US, but i don't think that counts the same - in a restaurant I'm just going for me, to eat and people-watch. Going to a bar to meet up with people I have never met and don't know what they look like, sounds like something I'd shy away from as well. Kudos to you and that you felt allright in that company ( ... )

The peace sign is a popular pose her for pictures. It seems to have been that way since the 60s-70s, possibly inspired by the anti-war movement in the US (though origin for the use in pictures in Japan is actually unclear). It seems Konica used the pose in an ad in the 60s, and that's possibly how it started.

Everybody here does it, and you find yourself doing it too. It's basically a go-to pose when you want to look like you're having fun XD
