It looks like I'll be moving to Japan in March. I've been talking about this working holiday for so long, though mostly I feel like I've been using it as a justification for quitting my job. Now it seems like it's actually happening.

I guess I have some planning to do.

Well, she wanted to do it in Japanese first, but quickly switched over to English again because I was extremely unprepared. None of the questions were real questions, they were all sort of like statements. She went "So you've been to Tokyo several times before?", "So you are planning to find a place to live when you get there?" etc etc and the "interview" was conducted through a glass screen, like at an old fashioned bank? or a ticket office. That sort of thing. She talked to me through a microphone through the glass, and I stood awkwardly on the other side just confirming all her statements.

That's fantastic! Will it be a permanent move?

The working holiday visa gives you 12 months residence permit and work permit, so unless I somehow score myself a job at a company willing to sponsor a permanent visa, no.

Ah! Thanks for the explanation, I'm not knowledgeable about the different visas and how they work. That's fantastic and exciting!
