I used to have so much cross-stitch stuff from my grandma, but I just couldn't get into it. Such amazing things are made, but it's too small for me or something. I stick with crocheting and knitting. There are lots of video game character pixels; you could Google your favourites.
Game nights sound like fun! Trivia's great, but getting into those other games would help you to really learn their characters. ;D
