Haven't caught up on the first entries yet, but don't you just love it when studying feels like a breeze? One day feels like you're slugging through caked mud and others like you're effortlessly skating on ice...

Studying in a botanical garden sounds so lovely! Despite the poop. Is that picture taken with the pink camera?

What are you planning on doing in Japan anyway :o

:D

Yes, the picture is taken with the pink camera. It takes amazing macro shots, I love it. Need to play around with it more.

Hahahahaha. Well. The usual shenanigans 8]

Yeah! good job :D I think you found a really fun way to learn japanese, my friend has had no fun at all with N2 and now N1 (she's crazy lol) another way I heard of is to learn via kids books.

..I really need to learn too.. and French (a bit!)

Yeah~! I've been meaning to do this for ages. I really do believe that reading fiction is the best way to learn new vocabulary when you're studying by yourself without a regular class to go to ^^; Watching films/anime/dorama/talk shows is good as well, but it's difficult to attain new vocabulary that way.

I have Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in Japanese (have had them since 2007 ....). Been meaning to read them, but ugh. I haven't had the motivation to read actual novels in quite a while. Manga is more approachable, at least at the moment :)

That's a good idea yep yep, I mean I still want to learn too myself, maybe I can pick up a class sometime later in the year and do that in the meantime.

My main motivation would to be more active on any Japan trips, or to play some more games that I have, but can't understand ^^ Like Sakura Taisen!

Another thing I heard of is watching Japanese reality shows, rather than dorama or anime which is all scripted and totally unnatural, lol. Like the people speaking will mutter or use slang and not say everything perfectly, like real people.

Well yeah, that's why I added talk shows to my list above ;) When I lived in Japan, I was encouraged to watch as much TV as possible (to get used to listening to the language). The downside with this practice, is of course that it's very difficult to actually pick up new words. But you get a lot of practice with following conversations and understanding things through context, etc.
