Signs You Are Getting Old

May 22, 2012 18:02

I've been experiencing excruciating back pain for the last couple of days. It's been building up over time, but yesterday was particularly bad. It's a dull constant sort of pain in my lower back. So, I read up on things to do to prevent this, and other than taking pain meds (which I refuse to do at this moment), physical exercise and ice packs is ( Read more... )

random, health, lol

Don't know about exercise watches (I had my eyes on one from Garmin that looked promising but the two stores that had it cheap enough to consider ran out and it seems they don't make it anymore), but one thing that's helped me get started on running is http://www.c25k.com/

There are mp3 files to download for each week of the program on the site, telling you when to run and when to walk, so you can start it with just a normal mp3 player (unless you're me and doing it on a treadmill).

Yeah, I think Garmin's Forerunner 610 looks quite nice... though I haven't looked at prices yet 8D

Thanks for the link, I'll check that out!

That one looks nice, though EEP RRP of $399.99. The one I was looking at was <1k SEK because it was on sale when I first found it.

Hahaha, then the Nike+ SportWatch is a better option, though the whole shoe sensor thing makes me wobble on getting it. I don't want to have to buy new shoes or a special kind of pouch for my shoes to be able to get accurate run data T_T; Nor do I want to cut up my current shoes to place the sensors in there, lololol. My google fu is failing me on whether it's possible to register run data without use of the shoe sensor. Hm.

The pain could be from poor posture. The breaks with stretching is a good idea, regardless.

I know nothing about exercise watches, but they could be a good investment. Keep looking into them, and maybe you can find a small group of people who take runs in the park or something, so you'll have a group of familiars and not feel as awkward.

=^..^=~

See, this is why I wish more workplaces had standing desks, so you're not sitting down all day.

Can't really help you with watches... I just use a GPS app on my phone mounted to my bike handlebars, but it doesn't measure pulse or cadence or anything like that. Obviously.

I just use my Pokewalker pedometer game from Heart Gold/Soul Silver xD it counts my steps and I can catch pokemon on it, I've almost got them all, it's great fun \o/
like a reward for walking a lot. Another thing I do is drag my 3DS along for some Playcoins and puzzle pieces xD

About standing up when you were getting home, yeah! it's actually true if you're standing up for most of the day instead of sitting you actually lose a small amount weight/are healthier generally.
Another thing is just office chairs, I recently got a standard cheap crappy office chair with a shitty back part and my back is starting to get sore often :/

I'm really looking to excercise/diet too after feeling so fat in London :< but I'm also not really cool about going to parks and stuff because of people, my options seem to either be, going REALLY early so no-one sees me, or doing it all at home ^^;;
