You should watch this pre-show, because ahahahha. NFL SCHOOL. I don't understand the rules at all. But people run into each other and get hurt. It's all pretty fun 8D
This is really a first for me. I know nothing at all about American football. And to be honest this NFL school thing they're showing to explain the rules does nothing to help XDDDD Very entertaining, though.
Sports that are big in Norway; Soccer (called football here), biathlon, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, team handball
It really sucks that you can't watch the commercials! Best part of the Superbowl which is often a boring game as frequently one team kicks the shit out of the other. Good games are close, not runaways.
Though, this year they are pretty evenly matched so it should be fun. And as my team got no where near the Bowl(Tampa Bay Bucs)I am rooting for the Saints. Like seemingly everyone else in the US, who isn't a Colts fan.;)
I've never watched a game of American football before, though.. so.. xD and from the clips we're being presented with in this pre-game show, it seems like it'll be more fun to watch than soccer matches 8D;;;; I'm getting kind of excited, but at the same time I know I won't be able to stay up until 4:30am to watch it all :p
Christian and I randomly picked teams to root for (without knowing anything about them). I ended up with the Colts XDDD; Luuul.
I rather enjoy football at a live game, with tv, it is hit or miss. It can be really loooooooong. But it can also be pretty exhilarating to watch.
I like the Colts, in general actually, but New Orleans, just holds a special place in my heart. And they have never been to it before and it would be great for the city's spirit if they win!
Oops, I am missing our National Anthem. Better had back downstairs! Enjoy what you watch of the game!
No wait, that's "America the Beautiful". Weird. Well, I should go downstairs anyway. "The Star-Spangled Banner" should be next. Heh, it's a ridiculous song, I think.
I don't get how a sport where a game can last for 3 hours can be as popular as American football is. Lolol. xD;;;
Wow Queen Latifah and Carrie Underwood.... and jet fighters and whuuut. I am kind of faceplaming all over. I feel like I'm intruding on something I'll never, ever understand.
If you have some sort of alcohol, then you've done it right :P
Interesting that Norway is showing the Super Bowl. Are there a lot of American expats there? Then again, New Orleans going to the Super Bowl is pretty interesting considering how they were doing 5 years ago.
As for trying to understand the game...yeah, I don't understand it haha all I get is "if ball is taken into end zone it is a touchdown, 7 points, and then they get to try to earn 3 points more." Everything else is Greek to me.
PS: Are they showing the ads? The ads are sometimes the best part.
It is rather strange. I mean, we have no American football leagues or anything here (I THINK). I know we do have a couple of teams and crazed enthusiasts, but still. It's never shown on tv, and only talked about as a kind of "look at these strange people with their strange hobbies"-thing. xD; And yeah, not enough American expats to justify airing the Super Bowl for.
I don't get the rules, but I'm loving all the super slow-mo replays 8D So much chaos, ahahahahha.
And no, no ads. :/ And this is the only time I'll ever be sad about missing out on ads XDD NRK is government owned, and they don't show ads ever. Plus I don't think it would have been possible for them to air the American ads even if they wanted to.... just sounds like something that wouldn't be possible. Different markets... and most likely ads for stuff that we won't be able to get here anyway so lul. xDDD
HAHA I should be the one gasping at that! You can't go to the grocery store or liquor store on Sundays here and expect to buy anything. (BUT you can go to a bar or restaurant, after 12:00pm, and buy booze, then drive home. I don't know.) People throwing Super Bowl parties or anything on Sundays are forced to plan ahead
( ... )
No (very, very few, it's complicated) grocery stores are open on Sundays over here (and we don't have liquor stores, so lol XDDD). Can drink out, though. Yes.
We get studio babble from Norwegian "experts" instead of the ads, and oh my god everything they say makes the game sound like the most homoerotic thing ever. I'm laughing so hard 8D They were like "It can't be fun having a 120kg brute of a man ramming you hard and fast from behind"... and later on "you never know when he'll come".
8]NRK is largely funded through mandatory licensing fees. If you own a TV and want to watch TV on it, you have to pay the NRK licensing fee. Conservatives over here lovingly refers to NRK as 'communist tv'. Lololol. And they only show short promos for their own shows in-between shows. Oh and during Easter they run 'ads' telling people to be careful in the mountains (as lots of Norwegians spend their Easter vacation up in the mountains xDD). I love NRK. I've grown up with their shows and concepts, and I still find them awesome
