I like how Japanese looks...but, yeah, I didn't understand a word. :/. Spanish on the other hand... :)
That's cool that so many of your friends have stuided Japanese...is that one of the most popular languages to take in school? Our most popular are Spanish, French and German, probably.
I love the look of it too, but constructing sentences feels like trying to solve a puzzle with too many pieces. It's just.. confusing and kind of scary xD And writing by hand is a bitch because I keep forgetting the kanji I'm supposed to know (the.. more complicated looking characters).
The reason why so many on my friendslist have studied Japanese is probably more due to the kind of friends I keep than to the popularity of the language. Although there are 50 or so students in my class, most people think it sounds crazy to attempt to learn Japanese. English is taught from third grade here, in 8th grade you have a choice between French and German and when you start upper secondary most people have to choose between Spanish or Italian. After that people get a bit fed up with languages, I think. Those who don't, go on to study languages at uni or whatever, but the more "regular" languages are more popular than Japanese, I think xD;
:) Thank you (or whatever the proper reply to such a statement should be).
You probably wouldn't find it as cool if you could read what I've written. It's all really simple sentences and all.. child-like, sort of. At least I think so. It has no real flow and is kind of clumsy ^^; I guess I shouldn't expect much more from myself at my current level, but it's frustrating because I'd like to have a better handle of the language than what I currently seem to have. Need to study more~~~
