No one is going to remember every event that happened on every date of every year past. Especially not when this "war against terrorism" directly affects everyone right now. If terrorists hadn't bombed the world trade centre three years ago, would you have made a point to mention this? Significant or Insignificant - shit happens, and people will choose to remember or be informed of whatever they choose, right or wrong.

Regardless, you're right. The CIA killing of Salvador Allende and following rule of Pinochet is a great fact to throw out in Septemeber 11th 2001 related conversation and debate.

What I'm trying to say is that not everything revolves around the U.S.

I don't think it's so much people choosing to remember something, it's the exclusion of other things not American by the media.

I make a point of this because what the CIA did was terrorism and it was an event much worse than what happened in New York.
