Why you shouldn't eat meat

I got this from Amanda's journal. Ignorance cannot justify this abuse. People always tell me, "Well I didn't kill it." The reality is you did, you paid for it, you contributed to the demand and it was supplied. Watch this and see what your purchase is causing. Everyone is entitled to their choice but make it an educated one. I want everyone in the ( Read more... )

I fully support vegetarianism; however... I am not a vegetarian. I was for about 2 years, but it got to the point where I kept getting sick due to a lack of nutrients and such. Not because of what I was eating, more or less because there wasn't much to eat at home which didn't have meat in it.

I suppose; it could be simple enough to get required nutrients and vitamins from a vegetarian diet and probably supplements - and believe me, I would've definately struck to that as opposed to going back to eating meat again. It's just that according to my parents, I shouldn't be 'ungrateful.' I don't get a say in the matter. Starve to death or eat meat...

I do intend, on when I have my own source of income and am able to purchase my own food, to definately convert to vegetarianism again.

Check out www.themeatrix.com... nothing says "You Are Evil For Eating Meat" better than vegetarian propoganda with cute talking animals =... I love Leo the Piggy.

I too was vegetarian in gr. 10 but had to stop because it was affecting my health. Now I'm 18, so a lack of nutrients isn't going to do much harm to me. Plus I have my own income so I can buy my own meals usually. I don't fault you for eating meat now, it's out of your control (my family make it hard too). I'm glad to hear that you're going to be vegetarian when it's under you control.

I was going to post a link the the meatrix but I want to shock people who read this, not entertain them.

I don't think I could become totally vegetarian. Living at home, it's hard not to eat meat when that's what my mom makes. Over the years I used to put up such a fuss about eating meat, I used to sit at the dinner table and pick away the grizzle. But now, I can honestly say I have refined tastes in food. And I plan to travel, and experience different cuisines. I love seafood, poultry, and good beef too much to just stop eating it ( ... )

Like I told Sidra, when it's out of your control it's understandable. I'm glad to see you'll be making an effort when you can. I too love meat but my taste cannot justify death. Not everyone is like this, so if you are going to continue to eat some meat I would say look for ethical sources, places that don't abuse the animals.

I'm a radical and a revolutionary, so I often want change quickly. But I believe in a two level attack. Take "baby steps" but all the while work for revolutionary change. For example the NDP aren't true socialists but they're the only party that's trying to do something out this economic system. I support the NDP but still believe in revolution, not like an uprising, but a complete change of our system.

Lesser of the evils... is the NDP as such.
I totally reduced my intake of meat, for sure. It's really hard but it makes me feel better about myself. I am addicted to sushi though... poo. Thank god it's uber-expensive, or I'd be eating it every single day...

being a vegitarian for a year was just too hard. I gave up, and I enjoy eating meat of all kinda (minus the bacon)
