I present a dilemma...

So, I am at work, and have done just above fuck all for the past 5 hours. I just found out that my boss who doesn't really know what he's doing because he's filling in for my real boss for a week has gone golfing with another of the floor bosses. This leaves my boss' assistant as the only person who even knows what the hell I do here. Do I ( Read more... )

Isn't work totally baffling and undefinable sometimes?

After busting my ass as a student...things seem slower. Somehow. Maybe the shit hasn't hit the fan yet.

I otally agree with Colin. In my last few experiences in an office environment, there are just times when there is seriously nothing to do. Unlike working in a factory or retail or some minimum paid job, sometimes there's just... nothing to do. Odd. It seems we get worked harder for less money, and worked less for more.

I concur as well.... especially if the place you work in is very relaxed, like where I am... noone cares if I take breaks to check my email or read lj.... as long as at the end of the day my work gets done... and in many ways I'mm finding deadlines are a lot slower than in school... cuz in school I was in classes all day and then still had assignments due that I had to work on at night or on the weekend... now I'm doing the work from 9-5 and then get to bum around in my spare time... I have to say, all in all, this whole real world thing, not so bad!

Yeah, the working world does seem easier. I'm not permitted to check my email. Gmail and hotmail are blocked. I don't think they know how much time I spend doing nothing, but all the work I am given gets done, so I guess they don't care. I don't really get deadlines either. Work just pathetically slowly trickles in all day and I get it done. I think I have read EVERYTHING on the bbc site now. I feel so learn-ed. It's learnd, pepe, learnd... And now, time to make money for doing nothing!
