sweet! I'll look into these. I actually tried reading His Dark Material and I just couldn't get through The Golden Compass. Too many...technical terms. haha. :P I kept falling asleep.
That is my FAVORITE part of Becoming Jane. Especially when JamesMcAvoy!Tom smiles that tiny little smile when AnneHathaway!Jane realizes it's him ♥
And seconding His Dark Materials. Oops, sorry to imply that HDM is a YA...well, it is but I think older teens/adults can truly appreciate it on an intellectual level.
I'd ALSO (LOL I read over my comment and was like..."it makes no sense") recommend any of Tamora Pierce's Tortall quartets/duology. The earlier ones aren't as well written but I still think plot/characterization wise they're spectacular. There are four main series - Song of the Lioness, Immortals, Protector of the Small, and the Aly duology - chronologically in that order. SO SO good.
If you're up for something REALLY dark, I would highly recommend The Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. Out of all the books I've read this year, and there have been many, this is a standout. Just know that however brilliant and amazing they are, they're very very dark. Not just scary, but dark. There's a lot of controversial stuff

AUGH THAT'S MY FAVORITE PART TOOOOOO!!!! :D!! He's so gorgeous! And I love the part where he's reading to her out of that book of the wood or whatever. Sexual tension you could cut with a KNIFE.
I think I've heaerd of Tamora Pierce. I take a look. Thanks!! :D
A Song of Ice and Fire series by RR Martin! The only downside is that it's still a WIP and there's four books out and he still hasn't written the fifth in like three years or something which sucks because this series is PURE. GOLD. :D
If you want something completed, try - David Eddings - the Elenium trilogy and then after the Tamuli trilogy (same characters in both trilogies, the Elenium comes first). The characters are delightful and interesting!
Guy Gavriel Key - Tigana (one of my top favourite fantasy books) and/or the Lions of Al-Rassan. Both are epic and lyrical.
