The first person she met was, actually, people. Or maybe not--it depended on how you defined exact doubles. Jim--and James, as they'd decided to distinguish themselves--hadn't figure out a way of re-merging and, honestly, didn't really feel a need. It was too funny. So when Abby dashed out of her room, it was in view of both of them, with identical memories of her.

"Abby!" they said at the same time, glancing at each other because they still didn't have the hang of this.

"Are you all right?" Jim asked.

"Kirk!" Abby said excitedly, turning on her bare heel to face him, the tails of her adopted sleep shirt flying out behind her. "Kirk! Come se--" she was stopped short, both in speech and forward movement, at the sight that greeted her. Not him, but them. Not one Kirk, but two. She had seen this episode, and she had to wonder if one of them was evil. Though if that were true, wouldn't they most likely be fighting?

"There are two of you," she said, stating the obvious. "Why are there two of you?"

Then Kirk's question...well, one of the Kirks' questions dawned on her, and she nodded. "Me? I'm fine. Better. Great, even. I never thought I'd say this here, but the coolest thing happened this morning." The excitement was returning and she bounced in place again, grinning widely, practically vibrating with scarcely contained energy. This was almost better than a Caf-Pow!

Jim and James glanced at each other, silently amused. She was sort of adorable, all that energy.

"We're not sure, but given everything else that's going on around here, I'm guessing it has to do with whatever you're about to tell me. We've all got... abilities."

Jim cocked his head. James stepped in smoothly.

"We're calling me James, because Jim here called dibs on our name, which I still think is unfair. As far as we can tell we're just... two. So what is the cool thing that happened?"

Abby blinked at them. She hadn't thought that the two things may be linked. Or was it three things, what with the extra Captain and all? It didn't matter and she mentally shook the question from her head because she simply had to show him. Them. That was going to take some getting used to ( ... )
