I never thought that I could be so disappointed with the place I just moved into. The only thing that really bothers me is this water heater/power vent, which is located in a closet which is next to my bedroom. It becomes quite difficult to sleep at night when this power vent comes on a vrious times throughout the night. I have all kind of ( Read more... )

I wonder if you couldn't put the sucker on a timer and program it to not run at night?

What did your realtor lie to you about?

I was thinking of doing that as well, but the water heater is also used to heat the house through the use of an air handler over top of the water heater. Although it would end the noise at night, it would also make this place very, very cold.

My realtor lied about things that were covered/looked after by the condo corporation, lied about noise problems in the neighbourhood, provided me with the wrong floor plans which showed the water heater in a different part of the unit. It's nothing I can really use against her, because I could have had the stuff checked out myself, but I just didn't have the time because of work. She also pressured me very hard not to get a home inspection, and I should have figured out at that point that there was something wrong with the place. Again, I probably don't have anything I can use against her.. she can just say that she didn't know.

Dude, you need to write a letter. I'm not sure how it works in Canada - and I don't know what the laws are. I cannot believe a realtor would advise *against* an inspection. That's definitely illegal in the States. There might be some kind of disclosure laws. At the very LEAST, you should write a letter of your complaints and send it to her, her real estate company and whatever real estate review board oversees her area. Also, if you have any documentation of things she lied to you about (even emails), include those. But don't be shy about sharing her verbal lies. She may dispute it, and maybe you can't "prove" it, but at least in the US, those letters go on files.

Enough complaints questioning her ethics and her real estate company may decide to drop her.
