I think I may have a problem.

A good friend of mine convinced me to watch Once Upon a Time. I hadn't planned on it -- I have enough shows on my plate as it is, and the likelihood of it being good didn't seem very high, based on what I'd seen in the previews -- but he was dying for someone to discuss it with... particularly someone who'd just given him a big pile of Harry/Draco ( Read more... )

squee, shameless, ouat

For what it's worth, one of the reasons I like OUAT (although I am not in the fandom, just a viewer who enjoys it) is because of the diversity of female characters on the show. Plus the focus isn't on just one or two main male slash pairings (I'm looking at you Merlin, Avengers, Star Trek) and anyone else can go to Hell.

I had to laugh when you likened Rumplestilskein/Belle to Snape/Hermione cos I would never ever see it that way...but now I do. Only, I still am into Rumbelle and not the latter. ;)

There's so much femmeslash that can be gleaned from the show -- Regina/Emma, Regina/Snow, Mulan/Aurora, Ruby/any one, Emma/Snow (I know, I shouldn't go there!). I really should start looking for that kind of fic.

I LOVE the female cast on this show. I was counting the main characters up the other night, and it's evenly split gender-wise, with a slight tilt toward the women if you consider the relative importance of each character -- which is pretty rare on tv generally and really rare for fantasy.

I think my Snape love made it easier to see it that way. Now I'm wondering if you'd like Snape a little better if he were played by Robert Carlyle? ;)

At this point, I think the Mulan/Aurora is canon (like Sirius/Remus!), and Emma/Regina is too perfect to pass up. And yes, Ruby can have anybody she wants. ;) I had not previously considered Emma/Snow, but I'M CONSIDERING IT NOW. :)

Here's a lovely Mulan/Aurora to get you started -- http://archiveofourown.org/works/590943

I think you should just go with it. It's not often (at least for me) that a fandom comes along and actually makes me want to get involved in it beyond anonymously reading fic. Enjoy it while that feeling lasts!

I hope it does... and I hope I don't bore all my HP friends to death with it. ;)

I have watched some of the show. Have not read any fic yet. But I do agree, he is indeed weirdly hot. ...Yeah.

Thank you for that. It's good to know I'm not the only one. (My sister said, "...uh, I kind of want to give him a hug?")

*waves hand* Me too me too me too! Well, not so much with the Rumpelstiltskin love, although I like the character. But I'm a gay lady just looking for more awesome female characters on TV, dammit, and this show delivers so hard! Wooooooo! ♥

Totally! It was actually really weird when Mary Margaret and Emma were stuck in FTL, and all the Storybrooke scenes were about David and Henry. I'm so used to having the characters driving the plot be women that it was a little jarring. I LOVE that about this show. :D
