that debate-it never ends, does it?

God, I love it when people are sensible. Thank you, fleableAs I read these posts, I can't help but think: this story wouldn't last five minutes in my writing class. Most would clamor to say that they just don't believe it, until the professor* requested quiet to gently tell the author, "Rewrite, and let us see it again next week ( Read more... )

and if they're not on your flist they are on mine! oddly enough.

it did get a bit silly towards the end - and I hope this is the end - and I am resolved to mature and adult and not rise to the bait anymore.

Very, very good points. I think a lot got lost in this discussion because the author was not willing to listen to criticism when it comes to character motivation. I noticed she had quite a few reviews suggesting she go into professional writing. I'd be interested to see what happens there if she tries.

Me, too. If she can't take criticism, there's no way she'll be able to handle editor reactions. Particularly because most of the editors will read about a chapter then toss it to the side and write the "Thank you for submitting your work to us. Unfortunately, we do not have blah blah blah" form letter. If the work did get past that point, then she'd have to be ready for some very upfront, honest, and non-flowery criticisms of her work and what needs to be changed.

Twilightsorcery - I friended you... hope you don't mind!

So...where is this fic? I think I should read it.

Carissima, why is this page displaying one word per line? That's very annoying. Is it just my stupid imac?
(please note, the damned thing is not mine, but belongs to my office! I will not be held accountable for the purchase of such a horrificly ugly paperweight.)

Go right ahead.

One word per line? I blame the evil spawn of Satan, IMac. It looks fine from everywhere I've checked my journal.

Yup. It is the Evilness that is Imac. Gods, I hate those stupid things.
So....yes. I read it. It's not that great. And the author being such an inordinately conceited bitch...yeah. Not so much.
*stifles homicidal urges*
Little brat.
