Oh, this was excellent! I've never seen Morael in fic before, and I love how you used him. I think the lore is that he can't cause undue dread, and of course, purifying Sam wouldn't be "undue" in his mind.
Somehow, it worse because fear wasn't the only the Morael instilled in Sam. Making sure he feared Dean? Making sure he believed Morael was his protector, even after the angel caused him so much suffering? I hope Castiel can find something to help him, because I don't know what Dean can do. ;_;
I liked how you came full circle, with the fight the boys had. Those are the last words they exchanged, aren't they? It made my heart ache. I'm going to have to pretend Sam will be just fine, with time. Yes? Yes!
Thank you so much! I'm terribly glad you liked it. I'm far from an expert on angels; I just went off of what I had scraped up a year or so back. But I agree, "purifying" Sam would be seen as a somewhat justified cause for invoking all that fear. However, at this point in his timeline, Morael found reason in everything he did to Sam, and everyone that tried to stop him failed.
And yes, I hope Castiel can find something as well! I have faith in them. Maybe they'll manage to track down another angel that was the same type as Morael and convince him/her to help, who knows?
Yup, the end is the fight that led all of this. I always struggle with endings, so it seemed suitable.
