Since I did say I had a hard time with this challenge (because I'm not good at negative space icons yet), and because I couldn't decide which icon would be my best, here are the other two:

I like the first alternative! I think the colouring is just the right amount of brightness, the texture colours are also very complimentary.

I think if the second was a bit brighter or warmer it would've made a great entry too but the texture darkens it abit.

I was contemplating a bit more red in the second actually. And I think the first looked different next to the icon I actually entered :)
