oh yay! that's my favorite line too! i was thinking about how they both have to grapple with their supernatural nature and how being in love with one another might help them to do that. even though leah's too big an ass to admit she is right now.
but it also brings my head around to another couple whose love for one another brings about a peace and loving who they are... coughjacobellacough

That theme is in E/B as well of course. It is through Bella that both Jacob and Edward begin to believe they are not monsters. I find the realization more poignant in Edward's case since his ability to be a real monster is infinitely deeper than Jacob's.

i disagree. i think bella's self loathing is only amplified when she's with edward. even though she tries to discourage jacob from liking her in her broken state, it seems like she's more at peace with who she is and finds it easier to be adored by him. *shrugs*
