Challenge 3--Bonus 1--Results

Nov 15, 2008 06:49

Ahhh, I love Bonus Rounds. The icons are so pretty, the voting so quick, the results so easy to post, lol. Great job everyone, the voting was fairly compressed into a small group of favorites, but I think quite a few of you benefited point wise. Of course, we all benefited by having new icons to use!

Cue the drumroll... )

I'm slightly confused as to how the first place icon fit the theme? Since the icon has three different colours instead of one? Some clarification would be nice please :)

In regards to color blocking, multiple colors were allowed as long as there was no precise coloring in.

wiii. what a week ♥

btw, the colours thing DID confuse me, isn't monochrome just supposed to be *ONE* colour?

I'm not sure anyone in the world knows what monochrome really is, lol because I tried to get a uniform answer and it just made me more and more confused.

I tried to follow the wikipedia definition as best I could:

For an image, the term monochrome is usually taken to mean the same as black-and-white or, more likely, grayscale, but may also be used to refer to other combinations containing only tones of a single color, such as green-and-white or green-and-black. It may also refer to sepia displaying tones from light tan to dark brown or cyanotype (“blueprint”) images, and early photographic methods such as Ambrotype, Tintype and Daguerreotype, each of which may be used to produce a monochromatic image.

In computing, monochrome has two meanings:

it may mean having only one color which is either on or off,
allowing shades of that color, although the latter is more correctly known as grayscale.
So basically, yes, monochrome is only one color BUT it can be variations of that color not just a single shade. So it doesn't have to be a ( ... )

actually, for me monochrome is quite simple, it's something that only has one colour, though it may include different shades of it. as you said. however, how can be red, yellow & blue variations of the same colour?

hates to be drama. it doesnt really matter now, the icon actually is brillant, but it would have been nice to know that that was allowed before, it's not the same to face monochrome than plain colours icons, or however they would be called.

i'll shut up now cause i hate being picky. sorry ._.

No, it's okay. You are right--yellow, blue, & red aren't the same color. And the winning icon isn't monochrome, but it didn't have to be.

As stated for Bonus One, there were two choices: making an monochrome icon OR making a color block icon. You didn't have to do both--i.e. making a monochromatic color block icon.

Thus, the winning icon is an example of a color block. The base is b&w and her overlays are geometric shapes of varying colors (which again, was allowed as stated in the rules and in the final reminder).

Bah, I'm late for the banners. Can I still do them and blame Thanksgiving, or has someone else got them already? Thanks for letting me.

Lol, I'm late on everything it seems right now. You are more than welcome to still do them if you want, or I can hand them over. Whichever you prefer.

The holida season/final exam season seems to mess with everyone.
