Twilight.

Okay so Sam's Club had the first book on sale this weekend for like $4 so I snagged it and thought I'd give it a shot. I haven't read anything else of the series and I haven't seen the movie, so this is really my first shot at anything Twilight.

I'm currently reading the second book, New Moon, which is beginning as being more believable, but there's still an element of hokiness to it to make you want to possibly throw the book across the room. xD

I'm actually writing Twilight-AU fanfic right now because that's what it is, so I'm just expanding on the universe and changing it slightly, making it true fanfic but more realistic. [Because I have no life.] The book WAS enjoyable, but yeah, it's just like reading glorified fanfiction.

Well, let me know how the fanfic goes. I'd be really curious about that.

And as I said, it was good popcorn for the brain...I enjoyed it and will probably check out the other books, but I'm definitely not drawn in and NEEDING to finish them...ya know?

I have experienced neither, so take this as hearsay, but I've heard that people generally found the movie to be better than the book. (Something you don't hear that often!) I'm sure I'll see tons of these at garage sales next year. Maybe for 50 cents, I'll pick it up and read it.

Really? People liked the movie better? That's hugely surprising...and it should say something about the book.

Yeah - you know for $.50 and a few hours of reading, it's not bad. I wouldn't put a lot more into it than that.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, and I still loved the first book. I'm not sure what that says about me, exactly... :)

ETA: I just noticed you have a Singin' in the Rain mood theme! So much love!

I LOVE Singin' in the Rain and pretty much anything Gene Kelly. :) He rocks!

I didn't NOT enjoy it. I read the whole thing and didn't stop til I was done with the book, and I understand WHY people (teenyboppers) are obsessing over it, so I wouldn't say that says anything about you! LOL!

Thanks! I spent a lot of time this Summer searching out Gene Kelly icons and I have one or two that I adore. :) LOVE Gene Kelly. *grins* There aren't any actors or entertainers close to him these days.

When I read the first two books I thought they were decent - nothing special, but not horrible. Then the third book pissed me off on top of being not particularly good, which caused me to go back and reread the first two and realise that they aren't that good either, lol. At which point I decided to find the hilarity in the whole thing, which is why the fourth and least well-written book is actually my favorite in the series. I nearly fell off the couch laughing at how hilariously awful it is. Now I still reread the first two and the last book, just for the lulz.

Still, I do find it difficult to explain sometimes how I can love the series so much while simultaneously thinking it's actually fairly crappy, lol.

Now I LOVE that story. That's funny and I think it's great.

I'll keep reading but just for the pure "I did it factor" unless I feel it gets to the point of being angry that I want my time back...LOL
