The second world war was a terrible thing; nearly a whole generation of young men lost, dying a terrible death in a far away place.

I often think that if it was my son, I have no idea how I would handle it. While I agree re the second world war, I also feel the same re all the wars. I know two mothers whose sons fought in Afghanistan, one of them did three deployments. I don't think either of those mothers took a relaxed breath as long as those young men were out there.
