For HOW long?!

Today marks the 62nd anniversary of my parents' marriage.

Seriously. 62 years of marriage.

For that matter, in just a couple of weeks, my father will celebrate his 83rd birthday.

birthdays, anniversaries

That's fantastic. Congratulations to them! My parents just celebrated their 40th a couple of weeks ago and I sincerely hope they're around to celebrate their 62nd as well.

Your mom and dad are awesome. I miss going over to your house and yakking at them while hanging out with you, back in the day.

Oh, man, every single one of my friends who paid visits over to the house over the years says the exact same thing. I think they found it amusing, but that's just how they were raised to operate as a household, to be welcoming of guests and to try their best to make anyone in their house feel at home.

I ... don't know what the traditional gift is for the 62nd anniversary, but they have my admiration.

All the lists I've seen give up on annual ideas at around 50. The closest one I can find is at 60 years, where it recommends yellow diamond. Knowing my parents, they've settled on a night out at Logan's Roadhouse or something similar and called it a day.

Most awesome "other people's parent" evar! And you can tell em I said so. I don't know how many burgers and cookies your folks fed me over the years, but every one of them was made with love and received the same way.

Did you EVER get to leave that house without food, having crossed the threshold?
