*wipes at his eyes quickly upon noticing him, because while he does like Cooper and feels fairly comfortable around him, this is still a little awkward, especially with not knowing he knows what happened -- so he'll just give a slight, almost sheepish nod in return*

*offers a tired half-smile, not a particularly sympathetic one because he obviously can't understand how much it hurts but more apologetic, because he can't really do anything, either* Not exactly the best time to ask how you're doing, is it?
