I'm trying to plan some kind of outing this Saturday nite in the Cherry Hill area, January 21 for my birthday. If anyone's free you're more than welcome to come. Just let me know if you're interested. Not exactly sure what we'll do yet. I was thinking of maybe some place where we could go that has music where we could dance if we wanted, or just ( Read more... )

Well, if you're thinking of a big sit down place, you could try and reserve Buca di Beppo, which is a huge Italian place which has a Pope table for birthdays and other fun stuff. No dancing though, for that we might want to look in Philly.

I have found dancing! There is a swing dance at UPenn in Philly. It is only $10 and no partner required. They give a free lesson and it runs 7:30-midnight. This sound good?

While I would like to try swing dancing some time, I'm not sure that's what I wanna do this weekend. My friend Annette mentioned a place called Top Dog to me that's in Cherry Hill... Says they have a bar downstairs that serves food and drinks, a game room, and a club upstairs for dancing...sounds like it could be fun. Anyone know of it? been there before?

I replied in the other forum.

What kind of music do you wan to dance to (hip-hop, cheesey 80s stuff, electronic, a mix?), and what kind of atmosphere do you want?

Top Dog is Cherry Hill's biggest club-type place, and on the 21st they're having some sort of pajama jammy jam.

If you don't mind going to the city, 2nd street by Market has a bunch of bars and smaller clubs, including the Five Spot, Club 27 (which used to be Envy), and if you want to stop at any time just for a drink and a place to talk, there is Sugar Mom's (a bar), which is weird and fun. Bar-hopping along this strip can get expensive, though. The 700 Club is also not bad if you don't mind small, and usually has no cover (a couple blocks north of market). Finnegan's Wake is around the corner, and while it has good music, it's usually super crowded with frat boys on Saturday nights.
