Dearest friends, family, anyone...

I would like to compile a little reading list for when school lets out. Please recommend a book to me that you particularly enjoyed and tell me why you enjoyed it! Give it to me straight, non-fiction, fiction, it doesn't matter. More than one recommendation would be cool, too.

Many thanks!

Thanks! From the looks of it I think I would like to read The Memoirs of a Shy Pornographer by Patchen. I don't rightly know what I will read of Kosinski, but I will definitely keep him in mind!

Being There, Cockpit, and Blind Date are my favorites of Jerzy. Check out some of Patchen's poetry, too. :)

I don't recommend Jerzy Kosinski because I get so depressed that I can't stand it when I read his stuff. Have you read Freud? THE INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS really changed the way I thought about the unconscious, and led me to read Adler. For a different read, I like THE PEACEABLE KINGDOM by Jan deHartog. It's a novel about the Quaker movement and it's origins. And I just got a set (10 vols.) of Will and Ariel Durant's THE STORY OF CIVILIZATION. I had read a couple of the vols. but it's so nice to have them and I'm reading THE AGE OF FAITH right now. The set only cost $10 at a used bookstore. A treasure.
Now you need to tell us when you read something you like.
