And amidst all the excitement and the "I came a little" and "re- tweet your fav bit, can't wait"

is one lone Tweed distressed and depressed that this will apparently now become "canon Victorian TV Holmes" to the entire world forever and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it but I still, STILL loathe their Holmes, and wonder if they did it, subconsciously even, on purpose to grab it all for themselves and leave nothing behind.

I just don't want it any more. I loved the first series. I enjoyed the second. Now I hate myself when I think back about the fangirling I wasted on something so pale next to the real thing.

Hi, how are you? I was so pleased to see that things seem more on a positive note for you, lifewise.

I guess it must be discomfiting in a different way to be an ex-fan than to be a never-fan. But yes, so disappointed that THIS is the global sensation - but perhaps this too will pass. :-)

oh so with you both on this. But actually, I don't think that fans of Sherlock will like Victorian version, after all, they want modern-sociopath-not-Great-Detective-Holmes.

This is AU BBC Sherlock - nothing more. What gets forgotten is that wearing Victorian clothes and having Victorian sets does not make a period programme.

Apart from the question of 'Why, if it's that good, do you need to promote it ten weeks in advance?'

Meh, they trail everything these days. BBC is full of ads for itself.

"What gets forgotten is that wearing Victorian clothes and having Victorian sets does not make a period programme." Trouble is, if enough people forget it, those of us who can't are screwed.

Yesterday I was "can I stay in fandom" - today I'm stroppier and I will try and keep the flame - acd_holmesfest is not dead, only sleeping.

I literally, just five minutes ago, watched that trailer for the first time... and just like that, I'm done.

So. You are NOT a lone Tweed. You know I've been absolutely head over heels for that series since day one, and willfully overlooked one problem after another. But telling us Sherlock is a psychopath and actually showing us the sick lengths to which you are capable of dragging another author's creation through the mud was actually frightening.

That trailer was what, a minute and a half? And I'm not only disturbed but feel like washing my eyes out with turpentine.

Oh, dear. I do feel for you. "what on earth was I thinking" is more difficult than "nope, don't like the look of that at all", I reckon

Not very illuminating, indeed. Plus the so-called deerstalker 'joke': oh, shut UP.

THIS! I was kinda, sorta, willing to go along with it until that 'here's the deerstalker - you're SHERLOCK HOLMES' bit at the end. Gah!

OTOH, I have to admire the economy of it - everything I dislike about the series done in 2 seconds flat.
