Wonderful reaction post! I agree about the Torchwood bleep... I miss it. ;___;

The Rex/Wales interaction was probably my overall favorite bit of the episode ("I had a pole through my chest. AND THEN I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS BRIDGE!")--I had liked him before that, but that bit of humor completely sold me. I'm really looking forward to his interactions with the rest of The Team Formerly Known As Torchwood throughout the rest of the series.

Thanks again for posting all this! Also, the graphic is bloody gorgeous! :D

You're welcome. I'm very happy to do it. It helped in ordering my thoughts while posting my own reaction on my LJ.

If anyone wants to read the full OH MY GOD reaction, it's up here. It's very long...

And thank you! I was waiting for a copy of MD to... "arrive from America" via my computer... (Purely for education purposes I assure you.), and decided to fiddle. :)

Also: you can structure the reaction posts however you want. You can literally slap an image and the rules up there and say "Have at it" and that will be fine. However, I did like reading your thoughts this week!

You are brilliant, and thank you for doing this!

LoL. You're welcome. I was taking notes for my own reaction post on my LJ (I go off on tangents A LOT and expand on stuff that I've only brushed on here... Seriously, my head is a crazy place at times).

And YES! Owen! Now I know what has been bugging me about Rex. THANK YOU. Especially when he started to flip his lid in the hospital. Reminded me of Owen plunging into the bay.

"AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS BRIDGE"

was like the Rex version of "and WHAT is that smell?" "that would be grass" "IT'S DISGUSTING."

Perhaps this "miracle" just means that Jack's healing ability has stopped or slowed for the duration?

Interesting observation! But if Jack dies while the "miracle" is going on, once it's over, will he stay dead or after being "dead" for however much time, just come back to life. Plus, if he's the only one who can die, that could make him something of an interesting experiment for people to find out why he's unaffected by the "miracle."

I need a MD icon now!

Weeeellllll...
I have my own theory about what's going on...and I think it makes sense!
I don't know if we are allowed to post 'theories about the plot itself here so here's a link to my (surprisingly short and clear) LJ post wherein it is contained:

I'll edit the entry to make it available to everyone (cause except for my fics my LJ is flocked)

Personally, I thought this episode was much better after I watched it sober. I didn't really get a strong impression of Ester. She's cute, but that's not everything. I thought Rex was funny though. His rant about Wales sold me on him.

What else? Andy is looking adorable and plzdon'tdie.

I don't get Jack's leap from "I can bruise!" to "Omg I MUST BE MORTAL" because we'd seen him injured by shit in the past. Cyberwoman comes to mind. However, I'll take this with a grain of salt because I get that he heals faster, and the next day when the bruises didn't heal should have been a concern.

And umm... last night, after watching this, my cat got outside and I was wandering around in the dark looking for him. I was cursing my bf for leaving the gate unlocked and I realized the angry internal monologue voice in my head was Rhys's. Huh.

Well by the time Jack gets to Ester, we're however long into the "miracle." Jack probably has already experienced whatever cuts/bruises that probably should heal up faster. Add to that, jumping into a pool to escape an exploding bomb and well... Jack has jumped to that conclusion which is the same conclusion we are all going with. But maybe Jack isn't mortal but maybe he's healing ability is slowed down so much it would appear that way.

What struck me as odd was that he made a point to say he felt pain like it was shocking for him to feel the pain of whatever injuries he endures. So does that mean he never felt pain before?

Well when he dies, he heals immediately - the gunshot in the very first ep - we watched it close.

I think he probably heals quicker than most people when he's immortal - he probably doesn't retain a bruise for this long, or have a cut not close and heal faster than it did before.

He feels pain - he did when he was regenerating his whole body in CoE, but I think this is just not going to be something with super awesome continuity to it.

The original series is a little wonky on Jack's healing, to be fair. In Cyberwoman Ianto clocks him in the face and he has a split lip for an undetermined amount of time after (is the cleaning scene meant to be the next day? right after Lisa's death? after Ianto's suspension ended?), but then in Fragments he has a bloodied head from fighting a weevil, but when Ianto reaches to touch the wound, it's already healed.

SO IDK.
