If Jack dies how does he manage to hold on to the Tardis? Enquiring minds want to know.

Welp, there's such a thing as cadaveric spasm, which occurs at the moment of death.

I adore Utopia so much. I watch it again an again. But I get so annoyed with the Doctor's treatment of Jack. I think Jack is very forgiving considering.

Jack is the most forgiving soul in all of Who. I think it's over a hundred years of living on earth and watching people fuck up over and over again. We know he went through the whole drinking/fighting/sleeping with anything that moves phase when he crash landed on earth in the 1800's. I'm sure he just...couldn't sustain that level of anger for that long. But at his core, even though he can be a jerk and an asshole, I really believe Jack's full of love and forgiveness for the people he holds closest to him, the Doctor included (however much Ten does NOT deserve it!).

I do not even have words for how much I love this episode! I watch it over and over. There's something so haunting about the darkness (visual and thematic) of the "End of the Universe" setting. And the interactions between the characters range from funny to heartbreaking, sometimes in the same scene. (Jack and the Doctor in the irradiated room. *sniff*) This ep shows that JB really CAN act ( ... )

I've always admired Jack for not ripping Ten a new one after That Conversation. I'd like to set Ten straight about that, but I do grudgingly admire his honesty. That was a great scene.

Would Nine have been so unforgiving? I don't think so somehow. I am DYING to have Eleven and Jack meet and see what might happen. I have a sneaking suspicion that Eleven might return Jack's love and give him the forgiveness and trust that he's earned. (Though why he needs to be forgiven for having unwanted immortality forced upon him is beyond me.)

This is such a great episode, despite what happens in the episodes after it. Who isn't impressed with Derek Jacobi?

I love Jack in this episode because his mood is lighter than what we've seen of him in Torchwood. I actually prefer when Jack's in Doctor Who for that reason. He flirts and they often highlight his omnisexuality.

Up until this point I mostly liked Ten, even though I preferred Nine, but after his treatment of Jack, I had a hard time dealing with his cruelty. And I refuse to believe that Nine would leave Jack behind because he was "wrong".

Jack forgives him, though, and sometimes I wonder why he has such faith in someone who would turn his back on him. He really does have a deep and caring heart when it comes others.
