I really kinda love this episode, TBH. But then I kinda love Random Shoes too, and my analysis is probably not worth explicating.

The outright, unapologetic, self-enthralled violence demonstrated in this (much like Countrycide) disturbs me more than OH NO MONSTER ALIEN. Makes me think about power. But. Yeah. Whatever.

In my head canon the time between Mark taking his shirt off and Owen sneaking (badly) upstairs involved a lot of aggressive man love after Owen licked every one of Mark's scars left him in a sated boneless heap on the table which is why he thought it was safe to (badly) sneak around upstairs...
