Grrrrr. So just continuity errors, then? That sucks.

Nope! Not necessarily.

He had the coat when he was forcibly entered into Torchwood in 1899. So that explains the coat. As far as the 700 years thing, that is easily explained away by Jack's time traveling before the VM burned out.

Jack traveled with the circus in the early 1920s. He could have EASILY gone back to the States in the late 1920s.

My wager is this is his original time line from when he got marooned in 1869.

I have a time line of Jack's life ... *nerd*

But to be able to use the phrase "Fixed Point" he should have already met the Doctor again.

Yep. It's always been speculated that he'd ran into earlier versions of the Doctor. I don't know how he couldn't have since he was living in Cardiff most of his life.

Interesting. *leans back with pipe*

I'm thinking Torchwood just sent Jack on the mission from the UK, based on what he said at Ellis Island.

It fits in with Jack's surprise at Angelo still being alive today (or alive and involved in the Miracle and not in a nursing home).

Jack saying he was a fixed point might have been a guess about himself or a continuity error on the writer's part.

Could be. Jane just said though that it wasnt set before S1 and that there are other means of travel other than his VM.

So God knows when this was set ...

Well, it wasn't set after S4! :D

It wasn't before S1?

So... when? After S1? After Torchwood dug Jack up they didn't stick him in a freezer but sent him on missions for a while as long as he avoided himself in Cardiff?

I guess that could be it!

I feel SO SORRY for any writer doing Whoniverse series. It's bad enough not screwing up the continuity in fanfic, but even there, someone's going to call you out on something that's unclear unless it's AU. They don't have AU.

ALTHOUGH... the Trickster's Brigade specializes in parallel universes.

So none of us are real either. :D

Don't they claim not to have canon in the Whoverse though?

THANK GOD! I didn't think it would have been after CoE anyway but it's nice to have reassurance. And kudos to Jane for replying to the tweets =)
