Well this episode has a lot going on! It's a bit all over the place, but some bits are great fun. I think Ianto is very funny in this ep, I love his dirty talk to Jack about measuring the inside leg. I love him trying the dress up against himself in the mirror. The "wedding fairy" moment. The car trip is also priceless. It's so like Owen is the child and Jack and Ianto are Mum and Dad. Interesting that Jack is a bit snarky about the wedding

I'm not really a fan of this episode although in some ways I think it's probably one of the better episodes of the season. It has some fun moments and some nice moments and I like for the most part that it's aiming for fun and lighthearted, but most of the scenes between Jack,Rhys and Gwen just make me cringe and I get that Torchwood (show and organisation) general doesn't generally give a toss about the random people they kill off unless they're trying highlight Gwen's heart, but the idea of people blithly celebrating downstairs after someone they know was murdered upstairs just feels like too bizarre a disconnect even for this show.
That's a really good point, I'm trying to remember if they are all aware of the death though? I agree Rhys and Gwen don't seem all that bothered when clearly he was a friend. There needed to be a little more exposition about that, or have the death be a total red shirt that no one knows.
The cringe factor for me is really that scene where Gwen is about to kiss the person she thinks is Jack, it's painful. I think it's the dialogue. Jack says something like "You rocked my world". Good God it's not 1970's prog rock, you have to wonder who would write that shit. It's a scene I can't watch again, it's up there with her showing Jack the engagement ring in KKBB as one of the most cringeworthy scenes. I don't mind any of the other scenes though, I like the one in the flat when Gwen is insisting on carrying on (which is really stupid by the way, but I can kind of see the mad logic if all those guests are coming and money has been spent. )
One of the bridesmaids sees the body and winds up telling eveyone he's dead before they can stop her so yeah people know. I agree it would have been better if they'd made him some random red shirt, but to make him a friend of the bride and groom and then have the death seem like some inconvenient blip is just weird.
I think Gwen going through with the wedding without really thinking through the consequences, like how her parents are going to react when there's no grandchild after all, until disaster strikes is very Gwen. I guess to be honest I always felt she was so keen to have the wedding go ahead because she was worried she wouldn't ever go through with it otherwise.I could understand not wanting to cancel on the one hand. On the otherhand you'd think she'd have matured enough by this point to think things through a bit beforehand instead of simply reacting impulsively to events until it all starts to go wrong.
It's funny because I remembered the Bridesmaid, but I think they sort of gloss over it all and I did as well I suppose. It would have worked better if he'd been a DJ who was just hired and didn't know any of them.
I suppose they had to have Gwen insist on going ahead for the story to work, and they were going for humour with it all. I can't believe that they would all continue to celebrate despite everything, and she wouldn't expect them to retcon everyone.
I'm going to be out on my own here reading the other comments, but i hate this ep, thankfully that it's over. I get it's supposed to be a screwball comedy and once again GDL and KO still the show for me brilliant

Can't argue with you -- Jack is supposed to be the chap who is able to make the tough, cruel decisions, so why didn't he just keep Gwen in confinement in their cells until they could make sure what was growing inside her? And Gwen's banshee-howling about how all she wants to do is marry Rhys -- was she afraid Rhys might change his mind if the wedding was postponed? Who were those two women at Gwen's hen night? We've never seen them before and could they seriously be so stupid that they wouldn't notice that Gwen had a flat belly just the night before the wedding?
Yeah probably more than anyone on the the team Gwen chose to be there and clearly wants to be there and even gets off on being there so I agree Rhys constantly blaming Jack for putting her in danger is kind of lame.I mean Jack's a bit of a twat, but she clearly can get time off as and when she requires it even though Tosh claims in s1 the job is 24 so she probably could have got the time off if she wanted to the night before her wedding so if it's on anyone's head (and in this instance I don't think it's on anyone's head because it's her job and no-one expected her to get knocked-up by some shape-shifting demon)they're both to blame. What comes after is another story.
