Okay guys, this is the part where we get a little bit serious. Well, not really. But all fics must be beta-ed before they are posted. Not everyone has a stack of possible betas on hand, so we've got a post to help you out.

What do you want from your beta? Brit-Picking for sure; grammar and spell check -- which is really a double check for me. Any obvious plot holes/inconsistencies.
What pairing(s) does your fic feature? Mostly gen. The pairings are on the HP side but pairings are also not an important part of the fic.
Is your fic a crossover with another book/show/whatever? Harry Potter, but it's also au, in that the war was a lot harsher and lasted longer. this takes place post-war anyway. If you want an idea of what I mean, check out the prequel Schism.
Any warnings? (Inc. Adult/R/NC-17 ratings) Don't think so. It will probably be R, but no actual death scenes. Maybe some violence? But nothing worse than is on the show. frankly, I expect it to be a hard PG-13.

What do you want from your beta?

A second set of eyes on my grammar and typos.
Clear-headed comment on what does and (especially) doesn't make sense.
Serious help with humor. Cuz it can't just be me laughing.
Helps if you're familiar with film noir and/or hardboiled detective fiction. Think Chandler, Hammett.
If possible, someone who read and (foolishly) enjoyed The Darian Con. This is the sequel.

What pairing(s) does your fic feature?

Ianto Jones/Jack Harkness.

Is your fic a crossover with another book/show/whatever? Nope.

Any warnings? (Inc. Adult/R/NC-17 ratings) The genre is fluff noir. Think the Thin Man. (Although my fic is totally unworthy of being included in a sentence with that masterpiece.) Maybe a little language but no hardcore anything.

What I'm looking from a beta: I need someone to make sure the thing makes sense. Also for spelling, grammar, and such; I'm not looking for a Brit-picker per se, since it takes place in New Orleans, but enough to make sure the characters sound right.
Pairing(s): Jack/Ianto; Gwen/Rhys; past Jack/John
Warning(s): Mentioned MPreg,language and a bit of violence. Not planning any hard sex scenes, but Jack does flirt a lot. Current rating is PG-13.
Crossover?: With Doctor Who (in that the Eleventh Doctor shows up in it) and borrows heavily from the Kathleen Turner/Dennis Quaid movie "Undercover Blues". If you haven't seen it, it's no big deal though.

What I'm looking for from a beta: I am usually pretty good on spelling, so typos should be few. Grammar would be the main thing. My biggest problem seems to be remembering to put commas in the right places, and remembering that when there is more then one male talking, "he said" needs to be "Ianto remarked." Other than that, any obvious plot holes, and as it takes place on the coast of Wales, a little brit-picking wouldn't hurt.
Main Characters/Pairing(s): Jack/Ianto, Gwen/Rhys, Rhiannon, Mica, others
Warnings: Alternate Universe, some sex scenes, some violence, but minimal.
Current rating: PG-13 to R
Crossover?: Somewhat inspired by the Secret of Roan Inish, but only partially follows the movie plot. Let's just say that selkies are part of the mix. If you haven't seen it - no big deal.

What I'm looking for in a beta: spelling and grammer checks and somone who can pick out plot holes.

Pairings: Jack/Ianto is the main one. Probably Owen/Tosh and Gwen/Rhys in the bg.

Warnings: Probably a lot of temporary death, PTSD, fair bit of violence I should think and probably some smut because I can't help it! Oh and slightly AU or rather AR...only slightly.

Rating: will probably NC-17
