Challenge 151

May 10, 2010 15:12

Starting this week, I thought we'd try a series of challenges based on tropes -- storytelling conventions that are familiar to the audience. Let's begin with an oldie but a goodie of the plot trope variety:

Locked in a Room

Your characters may not get along very well, but confining them together leads to meaningful conversation. Or, you know... ::cough:: whatever. We've had a "Trapped" challenge in the past, but this one is a little more specific. You can read more about the trope here* but as usual, you are free to use the challenge phrase in whatever way it inspires you.

Rules reminder:

- All stories must be 100 words long.
- Please place your story behind a cut; the comm's flist will love you!
- If requested, you must use the challenge word or phrase in your story; feel free to interpret that creatively.
- Please use the challenge tag “challenge: locked in a room” plus any characters. The best way to tag is to put up your post and then click on the little tag icon at the top. This way you can pick from the mod approved tag list and keep things grouped better. Thanks for your help in this!

* I feel it's only fair to give warning, if you've never visited the TV Tropes wiki before -- the site is insanely interesting and may EAT YOUR LIFE.
