The funny thing is this was the first alternative scene that popped into my head when I first saw the challenge.

Me too.

I mean, really. Priorities. This is what should have happened.

It would be fun to write the whole novel... If I were into writing AUs.

Well, sometimes I am.

Might be fun to pit the 1941 Captain Jack against the 21st century and see who won.

Men with integrity and courage are rare enough in any age.

Oh Jack! The temptation to actually do that must have been there... *wibbles*

The temptation to actually do that...

Must have been there. Must have been. But he weighed the odds and decided the risk was too great - so he chose 'duty'. But ... yes, my goodness, what a choice to have to make. Knowing that turning away from Jack there would mean both his death and a future without him.

Brilliant - though I can't help wondering how the real Jack would have got on in 21st century Cardiff - thrived like Emma or been a fish out of water like John Ellis?

I suspect he would have coped fairly well, because he'd already learned to think like a soldier (or air force pilot), and he'd have our Jack's help. It would have been fun to see. I think there are things about our world he wouldn't like, but he'd cope so very much better than John Ellis.
