Create-a-Show - B-Team

Talk about a last-minute idea! :)

While most US Marshals are protecting witnesses or policing the skies, Chief Inspector Richard Debney's Baltimore team is out in the field, chasing down criminals and, on occasion, butting heads with other law enforcement agencies. His team is comprised of a group of Marshals who are good at their jobs, but don't always fit the mold of the average US Marshal, gaining the team the nickname of "the B-Files" - a reference to The X-Files and Mulder's banishment to the basement for his offbeat style. Each member of the team has his or her own problems, and though things rarely go according to plan, the team has a knack for bringing justice to their intended targets. They get into trouble together and they get out of trouble together. Mess with one, you get them all. They're best friends. They're family.

Supervisory Deputy Marshal Richard 'Rich' Debney [played by Keith David]
Rich Debney has given his life to the Marshal Service, quite literally, as his marriage suffered about twenty years ago. He still cares deeply for his ex-wife, Loraine, but the relationship with his adult daughter, unfortunately, hasn't been so lucky. He has two young grandchildren, who he gets to see on Sundays, and the team knows better than to call him in on a Sunday. He's been given grief from other Marshals at his level, due to the slightly laid-back atmosphere of his team, but he know that the team gets their jobs done. This doesn't mean that they don't drive him crazy, and while he threatens, every day, that "this is the day I'm gonna start drinking", he's never had much stronger than a beer while grilling steaks in the backyard.

Deputy US Marshall William 'Billy' Hammond [played by Colin Cunningham]
Billy Hammond is a bit of a wild card, when it comes to life. He's snarky, stubborn and gets hit a lot. Sometimes, not on purpose. He did the Baltimore PD thing for a while, but didn't find the work as challenging, and he wasn't cut out for the FBI or the CIA - "They have too many rules." - and applied to the Marshal Service. He's a career dater, never finding much in his dates to warrant a second date, though it doesn't seem to bother him. There's a running joke with their fellow law enforcement friends - the ones who actually like them - that if he and Marshal Porter weren't so married to their jobs, they might make a good pair... though he's always glad to point out that she's so not his type.

Deputy US Marshal Tyler McCain [played by Aaron Ashmore]
Tyler McCain is the newest member of the team, a third-generation Marshal and really not sure if this is the career he wants. Billy treats him like a little brother, which irks Tyler to no end - he's got three older brothers already - and he hasn't quite decided how he feels about Audrey. Regardless of the atmosphere in the office, Tyler has been raised to follow protocol, file his paperwork and show his loyalty to the badge he wears. He's got a crush on the girl at the bookstore, a grad student named Emma, but doesn’t quite have the nerve to ask her out. And, on top of that, his father is constantly trying to make Tyler into the Marshal his grandfather was.

Deputy US Marshal Audrey Porter [played by Faith Hill]
Audrey Porter is stuck in a man's world - literally, because she only ever seems to be around men - and has an ever-present headache from all the eye-rolling she does. Regardless of what she might say, she adores "her" team - Rich, Billy and Tyler - and will do anything she can to help them out. The only other men in her life are her father, George - whom she lives with - and her dog, Scruff, who was recovered at a crime scene and decided to adopt Audrey. As for Audrey's personal life, she doesn't have one. She spends most of her free time at work, finishing up reports, or at home with her father. She's also more likely to be found asleep on the couch than in her own bed, and ESPN is her background noise of choice.

George Porter [played by Tom Silva]
George owns a hardware store in Baltimore, which he inherited when the original owner died, over twenty years ago. Originally from Boston, George moved to Baltimore after high school, because Irene, the love of his life, had moved there a year before, with her father's transfer. They married, after graduating from the University of Maryland and the couple had one daughter, Audrey. After his wife died, Audrey moved back home - though, it was also her excuse to get out of a failing relationship - and the two have lived together for nearly fifteen years. He is an avid woodworker and will start projects around the house in order to start fights with Audrey, which always ends up with them working together.
