Rules and FAQ for tv_universe

What is TVUniverse?

tv_universe is a All Media-based landcomm run by bizarra and erinm_4600. We'll host challenges in writing, graphics, and puzzles for team members to complete with any Media they want. First, you'll apply to join tv_universe and you'll get placed on one of two (for now, depending on the number of applicants) teams. You'll complete the challenges to earn points. We'll add up the points earned by all members on each team and, at the end of a phase (3 months), the team with the most points wins! Team communities are where you can socialize with other members if you'd like, and tv_universe is where we'll post the challenges that you'll hopefully enjoy!

Rules:

1. Be nice to each other. We know you all have different opinions, but this shouldn't lead to personal attacks on fellow members. Treat the other members as you would want them to treat you. This is an easy-going, social, team community. We're all here for the love of fandoms!

2. Please DON'T bash shows, movies, books, characters or ships. You'll be banned. This is your only warning.

3. NO SPAM. There will be random pimping posts in the Social Community to pimp communities and the like. Do not spam your team communities, or the main community. The team mods might do pimp posts in their communities, but that is solely at their discretion.

4. You may use any media you wish to complete the challenges. Television, Books, Movies, Stock images and the like. Some challenges may be specific to a certain media, but, they will be plainly noted and only when the challenge calls for it.

5. Participate at least once or twice per phase. We would love to have balanced, active teams to keep us on an even playing field. You don't have to do everything, but please do something. Membership cuts will be done between each phase. If you have not participated at all, we'll assume you decided not to play and you'll be cut. If you did, in fact, want to continue on, then you'll have to re-apply. If you know you can't stay or you need a hiatus, please let us know.

6. Follow instructions set out on challenge posts. If something is confusing you, please ask in the "questions" thread that will always be provided in each challenge post. If a form is provided, please use it, and please go by any size requirements. The challenges will end at approximately 11:59PM EASTERN US TIME. If challenge submissions don't follow the rules or if your entry isn't submitted correctly, you won't get your points. If Erin and/or I participate in any of the challenges, our points will go to the lowest scoring team in that challenge.

7. Try your best not to spoil anyone as this is a multi-fandom community. For the newer shows, movies, books, if there is a major spoiler in your entry, please warn for it. For any older shows, movies, books, use your best judgement. We won't drop any ban-hammers, especially for older shows, but do be aware that not everyone likes spoilers. :)

8. RATINGS! PG-13 for entries to be voted on. If it's a participation-only challenge, we don't care as long as you LJ-cut or link, and warn people.

9. TRIGGER OR NSFW warnings are required. If you aren't sure if something needs to be warned for, then warn for it.

10. Anything created for challenges should be newly made for that challenge. We ask that you not submit older, finished fanfics or graphics. If it's something you've previously started, (i.e. have not finished yet and will finish for the challenge) as long as it fits the challenge parameters, we don't mind. If a current challenge's parameters happen to fit a current prompt for another community, we don't mind if you use your work for both, however, it must be a newly created work for both prompts and follows the rules of the other prompting community.

11. If a rule needs to be changed and it will affect things, we will let you know.

FAQ

WHAT FANDOMS ARE INVOLVED?
We are allowing any media from now on. Television, Movies, Books, Old Time Radio, Stock images, etc. Certain challenges may call for specific media, but, they will be noted plainly in the challenge description.

The only caveat is that it be work safe.

Your Team name does not limit you to a specific genre. In fact, we purposefully chose team names that do not represent specific genres to hopefully avoid this confusion.

I'M IN, NOW WHAT?
- Accept all your invites to join your team, track your team and the main community, at the very least. This way, you won't miss any challenge posts or reminder posts.
- Check out the open challenges in the main community sidebar or team community's sidebars.
- Introduce yourself to your teammates as a new post to your team's comm. There will be a link in your sidebar to an "intro" survey you can fill out.
- Start participating! Your tv_universe mods, team mods, and fellow team members are always around and willing to help answer any questions and help you in anyway we can!

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF ME?
Have fun! You're encouraged to enter as many challenges that you are comfortable with. If you don't participate at all in the three month time period of the phase, you'll be removed from the communities. You're more than welcome to re-apply once you have more free time on your hands. See rule 4.

I'M NOT THE BEST AT SOMETHING, DOES THAT MATTER?
Not at all, we just ask that you try your best! While there may occasionally be voting, participation is what's most important! It's the effort that counts, so jump right in!

HOW DO I ENTER THE CHALLENGES?,
Follow the directions in the Challenge post. Unless otherwise stated, ALWAYS submit your entry to that post by replying to your team's thread.

WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A SPECIFIC CHALLENGE?
There will be a QUESTIONS thread for every challenge posted. Please reply to that comment and we'll answer your question as soon as possible. If it's not answered within 24 hours, please PM either of us. We may not always get a notification right away.

I STILL HAVE A QUESTION
Leave us a comment here. No question/comment is stupid. We are happy to answer anything you have to ask us. (Before you ask; The sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light.)

If you want to leave the comm or need to discuss something privately with a mod, please leave a comment at the CONTACT-A-MOD post. Comments to the CONTACT-A-MOD post will be screened.
