Ray clicks the latches of his guitar case closed before he pulls his glasses off to wipe the moisture away on the bottom of his t-shirt. Mikey is already across the room, light glinting off his clean glasses, surrounded by his collection of followers. He looks just as coolly collected as he did when he and Gerard picked Ray up three hours ago. If he didn't know better he couldn't even tell that Mikey had been matching Gerard beer for beer right up until he'd pushed them both out on stage. Mikey lifts his drink up without any tell-tale shakiness as if it's his first of the evening. Mikey shifts away from somebody and the light hits the blond highlights in his hair showing Ray that his ridiculous birds nest is still perfectly in place. It makes Ray envious, he doesn't know how Mikey manages it, and he self-consciously pats his own cropped curls into place hoping they look alright

Instead of going to the bar Frank pulls him toward the side door, barrelling past people who say hi and compliment Ray on the set. Ray calls hasty thank-yous to them as Frank drags him out. Ray is trying to find the words to protest but they're already outside, the sweat along his hair line prickles in the cool evening air as it dries. Frank pulls a can from his back pocket and hops up on the trunk of a car Ray recognizes as Gerard's Subaru. He holds the can out and pats the trunk

God, I LOVE this. Love this SO MUCH. It is the exact kind of thing I was hoping for with this prompt: that energy that Frank brings, the mood of their early shows and how unsure they were about the band but hopeful... and shit, I LOVE to watch those two talk about guitars, and Frank's crush that you can see from fucking SPACE that he still manages to play off real cool-like.

I was going to be flippant and say start a first times meme and I'll write you the rest but honestly knowning you'd like more is the best compliment, thank you. It makes me super happy to know that I did the sort of fill you were looking for. After that one interview with Ray and Frank I'm convinced that a longer interview of them talking guitars and music is needed.

This is awesome! The whole feel, how everything is still so new and Frank just this giddy fan. Ray being that little bit insecure about his hair -- don't be Ray, you will be loved for your hair -- and how he knows he's still got things to learn playing wise.

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it. I kept remembering this was the time Ray had that super short hair and couldn't not reference his hair. It amuses me that Frank is still the band's #1 fan after all this time.

THIS IS SO GOOD. It's such a GREAT picture of them at that time, I love how Frank is such a groupie for Ray, but in his own Frank way and how Ray is kind of blown away by him but still so FLATTERED.

Ugh. I would read SO MUCH MORE OF THIS. *____*

Thanks, as far as I can tell Frank is, and has always been, MCR's number one groupie/cheerleader/fan. If I knew more about guitar playing I'd be very tempted to write more about Frank fanning over Ray and his guitar.
