"Does it feel weird to you? Not being at the ceremony and not walking with everyone else?" Jack asked, stirring his cereal around in his bowl.

"A little, but it's not a big deal. I didn't really wanna walk anyway," I told him.

"Did you tell May we named the baby Josie?" he asked after a couple minutes of silence.

"No. It just kinda slipped out," I told him, and he grinned.

"I think that should be her name. It comes so naturally for us both to call her that," he told me, and I smiled.

"You call her that too?" I asked him, rubbing his stomach.

"Yeah. I do it a lot, actually," he told me. "It just- it fits her."

"Josie what?" I asked him.

"Rae?"

"That's not enough," I told him.

"Reagan," he said, and I smiled.

'Yes," I replied.

"You should go tell May before we forget," he told me, and I laughed, standing up.

I ran up the stairs and into May's room, flinging the door open.

"Jose Reagan!" I yelled at her.

"Excuse me?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Her name is Josie Reagan," I repeated.

"Aw!" she exclaimed.  "Did you tell mom?"

"Not yet. Jack wanted me to tell you now."

"It's adorable," she said, smiling.

"Obviously," I replied. "Her name has to match her."

"You'll have to tell mom so we can finish her room," she told me.

"We will. Probably when she gets home from work," I said.

I left her room, going downstairs and finding Jack in the kitchen.

"There's nothing good in here," he informed me, staring into the full refrigerator.

"Really? There's nothing?" I asked, stepping up behind him and wrapping my arms around his waist. I folded my hands over his bump, smiling to myself.

"Nothing sounds good!" he exclaimed, and I kissed his ear, laughing at him.

"Would you like me to go to the store and get something for you?" I asked him.

"I don't think your arm is healed enough yet," he told me.

"I think I could handle it," I told him.

"No," he replied, turning and kissing me. "I'll drive."

"I want something spicy," Jack said, walking down the rows of food.

"Mexican?" I questioned. "Tacos?"

"Yes," he responded, grabbing hot salsa and taco seasoning. "And rice. And hot sauce. And some banana peppers and jalapeños."

"Slow down, babe," I said, laughing. I watched him quickly fill the basket that he was carrying. "Are you sure you should be eating all of this?"

"The baby wants it," he replied simply before turning and walking towards a new aisle. "Let's make sundaes too!"

"O-okay," I groaned as he traded my empty basket for his extremely heavy one.

"What do you want on your sundae, baby?" he asked, looking over at me.

"Chocolate syrup and peanuts?" I offered, and he frowned.

"Too plain, but that's a start," he said, grabbing the items and putting them into his new basket.

I followed him as he moved down the aisle, picking up random things that he wanted.

"You're gonna get sick, Jack," I said, looking at all the food he had picked up. "Holy shit."

"Shh," he shushed me, walking away towards the frozen food section. He opened up the freezer doors. "What kind of ice cream do you want?"

"Vanilla," I said.

"But I want chocolate," he frowned, pouting as he looked down.

"Then get chocolate. I'll eat whatever you and Josie pick out," I told him, rubbing his stomach gently and smiling.

"But I want you to get what you want too," he said, continuing to pout.

"It's not a big deal to me, Jack," I told him, rubbing his back. "Why don't you just get one of each?"

He nodded slowly, bending down to grab a carton of vanilla ice cream and then a carton of chocolate.

"Are you ready now?" I asked him.

"I think so," he responded, grabbing my free hand.

We walked towards the counter and I felt eyes on me. I tried to shrug it off, but I couldn't help but turn and glance back behind me. I was met with Brynn's familiar gaze. She glared at me, eyes traveling down to where Jack's fingers were locked with my own.

"Cute," she muttered, and I squeezed Jack's hand tighter. I turned away from her, biting my tongue. "Didn't I tell you to watch your back, Gaskarth?" she sneered.

"You know what, bitch?" Jack exclaimed, turning around to face her. I squeezed his hand.

"Ignore her, babe," I muttered. "It's not classy to fight in Wal-mart."

"It's also not classy to get knocked up by someone else's boyfriend," Brynn sneered. "You guys are just so classy, huh?"

"Considering he was my boyfriend six months before he even met you, I don't think that makes me trashy. If anything that makes you stupid," he told her, and she glared.

"You're both stupid fags. I hope you're happy with each other. You deserve him," she sneered at Jack, and I felt him clutch onto my hand.

"I agree, I do. I'm perfectly happy with my incredible boyfriend, and I'm so glad he picked me over a cunt like you," Jack spat at her. "Now leave him the fuck alone. All of this shit you start with us just makes him hate you more. Please don't think for a minute you'll ever get him back."

"Please explain to me why I would want him back."

"Because he's the best thing that's ever happened to you, and you lost him to a 'fag' like me," he said, and her face fell. "Exactly."

I started to ring up the food, ignoring the pain I felt in my torso as I bent down. I didn't hear Brynn reply to Jack, instead I heard her heels clicking as she walked away. Jack wrapped his arms around me, laying his head on my left shoulder.

"I'm sorry," he stated.

"No, thank you," I told him. "I don't think I could have handled that anywhere near as well as you did."

*****

"Jack, that looks disgusting!" May exclaimed, watching as he made himself an ice cream sundae.

I made a face, looking at her and exchanging a look of disgust.

“It looks delicious,” he disagreed.

“Baby,” I said, shaking my head.

“Shut up and make your own ice cream and then come watch movies with me,” he told me, putting sprinkles on top of his ice cream.

“I’m pretty sure people don’t normally put jalapeños and banana peppers on top of chocolate ice cream…” I told him.

“That’s cool. You can eat your lame ass vanilla ice cream with peanuts and chocolate syrup like everyone else,” he answered, sticking his tongue out at me.

“That doesn’t even look healthy,” May said, shaking her head.

On top of the chocolate ice cream and peppers, Jack had put peanuts and marshmallow fluff. Then he had smothered it all in caramel and chocolate syrup and sprinkles.

I laughed, watching him take a bite. His eyes slipped shut and he moaned, making me raise an eyebrow.

“Good?” I asked, smirking.

“It tastes better than you!” he exclaimed and I frowned.

“That’s not cool,” I told him, and he grinned. He leaned over, kissing his lips gently.

“Hmm, no. I lied. You’re still the best thing I’ve ever tasted,” he told me, winking and making me laugh. I kissed him again.

“You guys are so cute it’s sickening,” May told us, smiling.

“I think we should have been voted cutest couple,” Jack told me and I laughed.

“We would have had to have been public at the time,” I reminded him.

“We were the cutest damn couple in that high school.”

“I think you’re a little biased, Jack,” May told him.

“No, I’m not. Seriously. Have you seen the other couples? They all looked like they- They all looked like Alex and Brynn!” he said and I rolled my eyes, taking a bite of my own ice cream.

“I never realized you thought I was so ugly, Jack,” I joked, and he smiled.

“Babe, you were the only thing about that relationship that was actually cute. What made it ugly was that ho-bag, Jesus freak, clingy, two-faced, homophobic-”

“Alright, baby, that’s enough,” I told him. “You’re getting yourself worked up.”

“I’m not done yet! That s-”

“Jack, please!” I said. “I agree with every word you’ve said, but you’re making your blood pressure go up and that’s gonna put stress on the baby. Now just calm down and breathe,” I told him, touching his cheek.

“She’s a bitch,” he told me bluntly, and I laughed.

******

“Wake the fuck up! You’re not allowed to just sleep when I’m in so much fucking pain!” Jack said, smacking me in the face. I groaned, rolling onto my back and blinking, shielding my eyes against the light of the lamp he had just turned on.

“Trust me, I wasn’t sleeping. How do you expect me to sleep while you’re groaning in agony next to me?” I questioned.

“Well excuse me for being sick to my stomach!” he snapped and I groaned.

“I wasn’t yelling at you, Jack. That’s not what I meant.”

“My chest feels like it’s on fire,” he whined, clutching at his bare chest. I glanced down, seeing his other hand on the stretched skin of his sixth-and-a-half month pregnant stomach.

“I told you not to eat all that food,” I told him and he scoffed.

“You know what, Alex?!” he stated, standing up and getting out of the bed. “Just fucking go back to sleep if all you’re gonna do is say shit.”

“I’m not-” I sighed. “Jesus, Jack. Will you just let me talk to you?”

I got up, following him out of the room and into the bathroom.

“Are you okay?”

“No, Alex,” he answered.

“Do you want me to get you anything?” I asked.

“No. Go back to bed,” he retorted.

“Do you have heartburn?” I asked, looking down at him calmly.

“I don’t know.”

I rolled my eyes at him, going downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a glass, filling it with milk and then brought it back upstairs with me. I opened up the medicine cabinet, finding a bottle of Tums and taking out two.

“Come back to bed,” I said, turning around to look at him.

“I don’t feel god,” he mumbled.

“That’s why I got medicine,” I said, showing it to him. “Now come lay back down with me.”

He got up slowly, following me to our room. He sat on the bed and I handed him the milk. He drank a little bit of it before setting it down and taking the Tums. He yawned, leaning against me.

“See why you shouldn’t eat so much spicy food?” I said quietly, petting his hair.

“Mhm,” he hummed, and I wrapped my arms around him. I rubbed his stomach, trying to make it feel better. I felt the baby kick instead, and Jack grunted. “Go to sleep, Josie,” he mumbled and I grinned, kissing his temple.
