I woke up in the morning laying with Alex, Baz in between us. Shortly after waking up, I left Alex's house after my mom called me home asking if I would make dinner with her. Apparently she invited some friends over for some get together and she had overwhelmed herself with everything she planned on making. I stood in the kitchen with my mom, wearing a frilly pink apron. My mom was frantically getting ingredients out and setting them in front of me on the counter.

"Is it really necessary for me to wear this?" I asked, tugging on the pink monstrosity.

"I don't want you getting your clothes dirty. I have washed enough of your clothing in the past few days," she responded handing me a knife. "Cut these vegetables."

"You sure you trust me with this?" I asked, meaning I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing.

"What, are you planning on hurting yourself again?" she asked, stopping what she was doing and looking at me concerned.

"No," I sighed, "I am just unsure of how you want these cut."

"Oh," she said, looking relieved, "any way is fine."

"Alright," I said, cutting into a carrot.

I was nervous. Ever since I had woken up this morning I had been toying with an idea. However I was afraid of what would happen. I was trying to make everything right between Alex and I and it meant I had to do things that were far out of my comfort zone. I had to do this for him, but I wasn't sure when would be the right time.

As if she was reading my mind, my mom started asking me questions.

"So," she started, "is there anyone that your interested in? Because I know life can be hard when you are gay and it's not always easy to find someone."

"Actually," I said, biting down on my lip, "I have a boyfriend."

"Do you?" she asked, surprised.

"Yeah."

"Well, what's his name? What is he like?" she asked, curiously.

"It's Alex," I said, smiling slightly at thinking about him.

"Alex? As in Alex Gaskarth?" she asked, and I nodded. "I'm so happy for you two!" she said, coming over and wrapping me in her arms.

"Thanks," I smiled, feeling relieved. My mom pulled away from me and went back to her cooking. The whole time asking me questions about my relationship with Alex. I told her about liking him since I was fifteen and all the shit we went through during tour. I told her about Megan and the big misunderstanding that involved her. I left out the parts of when I got high and almost raped Alex, and I left out all the sex, but I pretty much told her the rest.

"It sounds like you're really happy with him," she said.

"I am. We fight a lot but it's getting better now."

"That's good. Don't do anything stupid to lose him," she threatened. I smiled, glad for her approval.

After we finished preparing the food, my mom suggested I call Alex and invite him over for dinner. She said that she missed him and she knew that with him living alone he probably wasn't getting a home cooked meal. I saw through her lie, however. I was fairly sure she just wanted to see Alex and I together. When I hung up the phone, my mom demanded my attention again and had me help her make a cake from scratch.

"Hey mom," Alex said, greeting my mom with a smile on his face. I dropped the spoon in the bowl of batter and went over to greet him, surprising him by kissing him right in front of my mom. He kissed me back, clearly confused, but when my mom cleared her throat I pulled away.

"Jack?" Alex questioned.

"I told her," I said, seeing a huge grin break out across his face.

"Yes, he did," my mom said, "Jack you can go hang out with Alex now, thanks for your help."

"Alright," I said, tossing the horrible apron on to the floor and grabbing Alex's hand, pulling him into the other room.

"You really told her," Alex smiled, when I lead him into my bedroom.

"Yeah. I figured if we were going to make this work I was going to have to tell her sometime. Plus I knew you wanted me to. I did it for you."

"I love you so much," he smiled, closing the distance between us again.

Alex and I sat together outside while my mom chatted with her friends. For the first time in a long time I was acting like myself again. I wasn't worrying about little things, and I was happy. I leaned over, kissing him on the cheek as he shoved cake into his mouth. He put his plate down next to him and stared at me, smiling.

"What has gotten into you?" he laughed.

"I don't know, I'm just happy today," I said.

"Well I like it."

"Me too," I said.
