"Answer your fucking phone," Jack groaned, waking me up with a slap to the chest.

"Ow," I whined, opening my eyes and looking down at him. "The fuck was that for?"

"Your stupid phone has been ringing for almost twenty minutes. It keeps waking me up. If it rings one more time I'm throwing it out the window," he told me, shoving his face in my chest.

I sighed, reaching my hand over to pick it up. Before I found it, it began vibrating again. Jack jumped up, scrambling for the phone, but I pushed him away.

"Chill, babe," I told him, grabbing the phone and checking the screen. I sighed when Brynn's picture showed up on the screen. I glanced down at Jack, biting my lip before hitting the send button. "Hey, Bee."

"Alex!" Her over enthusiastic voice made me cringe away from the phone. I heard Jack huff, and he crawled out of bed, leaving the room. "Did I wake you up, hon?"

"No," I said, slumping back against the wall. I didn't want to spend the day fighting with Jack again. "You didn't."

"Good! Anyway, my parents were talking about going out to the beach house for the day. I was wondering if you wanted to drive out with me? We can hang out and maybe stay the night?" she asked, and I had to stop myself from groaning.

I really didn't feel like going out to the beach with her and her family. Her dad was a big shot lawyer, always showing off his money and his success. Her mom was a small, pampered woman who was extremely religious. Brynn and her little sister were almost exactly like their mother. They got everything they asked for, were straight A students, and perfect little angels. Brynn was my complete opposite. She didn't drink, she didn't swear, she never lied to her parents, she went to church almost every Sunday, and she was pure. She believed in the whole "no sex before marriage" thing. She wore the purity ring and took an abstinence pledge and all that other shit.

I, on the other hand, could give a shit about any of that. I had told her I was still a virgin, but it was a complete lie. I had lost my virginity when I was fifteen; to a boy. I didn't need her preaching to me that I was going to hell. I already knew I was, and there were several factors backing that up.

"I don't know, Brynn," I told her. "I really don't feel that well."

"Oh, baby," she said. "What's wrong?"

"Stomach ache and head ache. I really think I should just stay in bed for the day," I told her, closing my eyes.

"Poor Alex. Do you want me to come over and take care of you? We could stay in bed together and have a snuggle day," she offered.

"Nah. Go with your family and have fun. It'll be boring for you to just sit around and watch me sleep all day," I told her.

"Okay, Alex, but if you need anything, make sure you call me," she said.

"I will," I responded.

"Alright. I love you!" she said, and I bit my lip.

"Love you, too," I told her. It wasn't exactly a lie. I did love her. Just not as much as she loves me.

I hung the phone up, putting it back on the table just as Jack walked back in the room.

"Are you leaving?" he bit, putting his glass of orange juice down before sitting on the bed.

"Nope," I told him, sitting up and kissing his cheek. I pulled him back to lay down with me and he shoved his face in my chest.

"How'd you get out of that?" he questioned.

"Said I was too sick. I didn't wanna go to the beach anyway. I just wanna spend the day with you," I told him, running my fingers through his black hair.

"Lucky me," he said, almost sarcastically.

"Unless you want me to go home," I said, feeling slightly put off by his tone of voice.

"Of course not," he said, wrapping his arms around me tighter. He sighed and I kissed the top of his head.

"What's wrong baby?" I asked him, lifting his head up so he would look at me.

"I don't feel very good," he said, and I frowned.

"What's up?" I asked.

"My stomach keeps flipping and it's making me feel like I'm going to throw up," he told me.

"Poor baby," I said, stroking his cheek. I kissed his forehead, and he rested his head against my shoulder.

"I'm so tired," he whined.

"Go back to sleep, babe," I told him.

"Only if you lay with me," he answered and I smiled.

"It would be my pleasure," I told him. He cuddled up to my chest even more, and I ran my fingers through his hair until I felt his breathing evened out. I nuzzled my nose into the top of his hair, falling asleep soon after he did.

I woke up to jerking movements next to me. I opened my eyes to see Jack stumbling toward the door hurriedly. I got up, stretching before following him. I saw light pooling at the crack under the door of the bathroom. I peeked in to see Jack on his knees in front of the toilet.

"You okay, Jack?" I asked, stepping inside the room.

His response was a dry-heave, then I heard the sounds of him throwing up into the toilet bowl. I moved closer to him, kneeling and moving the hair out of his face with my left hand as I rubbed his back with the other.

He leaned back against me and I sat down, leaning back against the tub. He put his head on my chest, wiping his mouth off with the sleeve of his hoodie. I brushed his hair out of his eyes, feeling his sticky sweat smear onto my  fingers.

"Hey, baby," I said softly, and he moaned.

"I feel like I'm dying, Alex," he moaned, and I gave him a small smile.

"I doubt it," I told him. "Come on, let's get you back in bed."

"I can't move," he groaned.

I stood up, trying to pull him up with me.

"Can you try to help me? You're sort of a dead weight right now," I told him. He tugged on my arms and I pulled him up with me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his body against mine. I put my arm around him, walking him awkwardly back to his room. May was standing outside her own room when we passed and she raised an eyebrow.

"Are you guys drinking already?" she asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Your baby brother's sick," I responded and she frowned.

"What's wrong with him?" she asked, following as I continued on the way to his room.

"He's throwing up and I'm pretty sure he has a fever," I told her, limping into the room and laying him on the bed. He groaned when he hit the sheets, grabbing a pillow and shoving his face into it.

"Should I go get mom?" she asked, and Jack moaned.

"No!" he yelled weakly, and she looked over at me. I gave her a silent nod, watching as she slipped out the door quietly.
