argh argh ARGH I hate it when that happens. What really riles me up is when my mom walks into the room and immediately sides with him even though when he's not around she expresses the exact opposite opinion. I HATE agreers, especially when they back up the most ridiculous things possible.

Don't feel bad, honey. Respect goes both ways, you know. Just because asian parents don't do it doesn't mean that it shouldn't happen. There should be no reason for you to respect someone who doesn't respect you in return, 'unconditional' or not.
