Yep, I'm at it again. However, this will be the last until DragonCon, as I've got 8 weeks of Renn Faire to suck up my life and I've barely started this year's gown. Ah, the joys of being on the the Cast...

Anywho, last weekend was Starfest Denver, a total joke of a Sci-Fi convention but the only one in Colorado. The collective group of us decided to spend Saturday day as pirates, before changing into other costumes.

I just finished my Bootstrap Bill costume (well, as finished as it can be until I get myself to a beach and can collect more supplies, which I will do sometime before DragonCon, I hope...) and figured I ought to share pics of Williams Turner Jr. and Sr. (Cut and edited from my LJ, which is F-locked due to a stalker. More pics of just Bootstrap are over at beforethebeard.)

So, we didn't do a "serious" photoshoot, where we spend an insane amount of time setting up photos to look good. It's a convention. We are going to have crappy backgrounds, bad lighting, and people everywhere. It happens. We instead aim for fun and silliness. Such as when we gathered up the Sparrows for a photoshoot in the Locker. 4 Sparrows in one place... couldn't resist. However, the only guy Sparrow kept getting dragged away, so we're all chicks in these pics.

Will Turner with a flock of Sparrows. (The joke got old after a while.)

Will with Sparrows, Padme, and Dorme.

Obviously, protecting the ladies visiting from Naboo from the two nefarious pirates in Colorado.

Then we went and changed into PotC stuff for the afternoon, because my insane friend captwillturner got enough embroidery done on Pirate King to make it wearable and she threw together passable pleather armor. It's amazing what you can do with hot glue and 5 hours time.

My big costume of the day was Bootstrap Bill.

First, let me snow off a bit...

Yes, that is a real dead starfish on my face. I've named him Gryphon. My friends think I'm crazy, but didn't ask why.

The William Turners together.

And yes, I am the senior of the two. Unfortunately. *sigh* I hate being old.

Lizzie and Will Turner

This costume is by no means done, but it's now reached the "in-progress but wearable" phase. This is the quick, fast armor; captwillturner is making it out of real leather... eventually.

We went outside for pictures, but it was super windy so that didn't last long. Plus, the lawn isn't the most scenic place.

We consider Lizzie a Turner at this point.

The AWE promo poster...

It's not foggy, but it's windy and an otherwise good pic.

Except for it being so bright everyone is squinting.

Bootstrap Bill, photographer.

Even though it's not raining, there's pics that had to posed.

As the sole representative of the Flying Dutchman crew present, I probably should have done something to prevent this, not posed and taken the pics. However, I'm good with a camera.

We went back inside for more pics, beause it's super windy and my hair kept getting caught on my coat. How the hell being covered in sea life could be considered practical, I won't ever understand.

We found a Singapore Tia Dalma. Cool!

More pics of the Turners...

I consider my "stuff" level to be more DMC than AWE. I need a LOT more stuff. Is anyone planning to be near Ft. Myers/Sanibel Island FL in the next few months? I can tell you exactly what I need and where to get it....

Four cameras worth of pics on flickr...
