why did it snow today?

according to my calculations, it is october, not november, nor is it december, for if it was, i would be buying ppl gifts, which i am not. really, i thought i had a good few months until i had to buy mittens/gloves. i had not excpected such an arctic chill today....grrrr. must go now and do something productive...
