I still blame people living above their means. Bush didn't force any of those people to take loans to buy houses they couldn't afford.

I have heard an extensive amount of 1st time voters this year in their 30's and 40's... and if you think I am blaming 1st time voters that were too young to vote? typical.

If Obama does 25% of what he promised I will be impressed, he will be my President because I am American, but I am not holding my breath. He has promised much, with no experience.

People making really poor financial decisions is certainly a huge factor. That goes for people on the individual level and for people making huge corporate decisions. It pretty much came down to greed on both ends.
While a number of his fiscal policies were totally screwed up my main area of displeasure with Bush is his foreign policy choices. If I use terms like "totally screwed up" to describe some of his fiscal policies I'm not sure where to even go when describing many of his foreign policies. Perhaps "Batshit insane" may do them justice.

2. = Not true. The 18-29 demographic only made up 18% or so of the votes cast in the 2008 election. Though that segment did go overwhelmingly for Obama (66% or so). But the only group that voted less then the 18-29 segment was the 65 and older segment at around %16.

thank you turatex January 19 2009, 15:55:52 UTC
I don't agree with everything Bush has done, but people forget that this is not about an individual. Obama is not a god, or a messiah. He is a guy with a job, that will suck, not to mention the pressure of being the first mixed race President.

I'm SO with you on not being able to lay blame on W exclusively.
I fear, however that you are asking people to think, and too many would rather blame, oversimplify, and chant.

I mean, c'mon, every joke about him being an incompetent simpleton, if it's true, has to be in direct conflict with allegations that he is a fiendish villain who has singlehandedly dragged the US into warfare and torture.
which one is he?

people who are overjoyed about "their" voice having made a difference in 08 have to accept the fact that the sytem works and Bush was in office for 2 terms due to the will of the people, or they have to accept that "The Conspiracy" is allowing Obama to be be President.
one or the other.

Maybe it's old age that makes me so disgusted with the average ranting moron, whether the rant is left or right wing...or maybe it's the fact that I don't like loud mouthed morons now and never did.

People can just blame him for what he is responsible for. Which should be plenty to keep the blame going for quite awhile.
As far as him being an incompetent simpleton or not...everybody in the know KNOWS its really mole man Cheney the cyborg calling the shots from his underground pleasure palace. Didn't you get the memo?

Which are some of the many (and in the grand scheme of things relatively minor) reasons for my cynicism.

PS - Python rules. Lol, I actually have the scripts for all the regular season shows around somewhere.

well, you know how much them black people love their messiahs and saviours...

But In all fairness, Im sure the irish felt the same way about Kennedy, and that the religiolus anti-intellectual midwestern redneck commoners and corporate oil-barons felt the same way about Reagan and Bush II.

And on another note, all those people who didnt vote last time couldnt on account of not being 18... that, and Im sure that the decrease in possible voters in Iraq and Naw'Lins didnt help either.

Obama hasnt even taken the oath yet, and you sound like you're already ready to call for his impeachment.
