its sad you can't go. espically if my words had anything to do with your feelings. but yeah, its probably better because nothings getting better there. and i'd have to agree with soygirl. it just heightens our own fears. hopfully they will be just that.

yea... i was definitely feeling for myself that now was a more important time to gather than ever but obviously the decision is out of my hands. and really, jerusalem and tlv still have not been too affected by the recent military action, but it is bad... for instance, around 300 lebanese civilians have already been killed and 15 israeli civilians have been killed...that fact alone makes me at least a little happy that i am not putting my money into the israeli economy. i don't know that situation is soo fucked up. i feel like israel is horrible and war mongering, but really the conflict is so confusing in the middle east that it's hard to take any moral side.

Call me biased if you want... but Israel did not begin this recent exchange of violence. I'm not neccesarily absolving them from any blame or agreeing with their military strategies , but Hezzbolah is the primary catalyst here.

i know that hezzbolah started everything, and this is why i think it's so impossible to really take strong sides in the mideast conflict: hezzbolah committed a "terrorist" action, and even though hezzbolah isn't officially supported by the lebanese government, they are largely supported by the lebanese people. and maybe that's because the hezzbolah are the only people that are providing services to the people. but then the people end up being the most affected in the conflict, what with hundreds of civilian deaths and people fleeing to refugee camps... i am mostly concerned with israel's irregard for killing normal people who are already struggling to simply live their lives; ESPECIALLY since jewish organizations in general make very strong stands against governments that they deem as committing "acts of genocide."
