An emasculated kitchen

Just de-nutted it. Cooking for a large group carries heavy responsibilities. Many people have allergies. For some reason they appear to be more frequent amongst SCA folks. I did a major clean of the kitchen. Counters cleared and wiped three times. All utensils, used or 'clean', put in dishwasher or hand washed and rinsed twice. All the ( Read more... )

Well, at least your not having to try and bake kosher Christmas cookies. (Just wish I'd gotten to see the Rabbi's eyes when the twin's friend's Mum took them to be blessed)

I don't think even the commercial kitchens live up to those standards, so don't sweat it too much. Meat allergy? I suppose it is possible but wow, that's the first time I've heard of one!

Until reading your post I'd never heard of anyone having an allery to meat. I know people who had children born with PKU, but that's not an allergy per se. So googled it and found this article. Apparently meat allergies are not all that uncommon.

This is a first. I've never heard of anyone being allergic to meat. Shellfish, yes, but not meat as in red meat or poultry.

Walnut mushroom loaf sounds divine.
