I looked through the memories and the answers I found there didn't completely satisfy my questions. So here it is. my dog went over to our friends house for a couple days and he came back limping. He probably ended up playing too roughly with our friend's rottweiler and if he doesn't stop limping in a day or two we're going to get it looked at ( Read more... )

i'm not sure what their prices are for cats & dogs, because we have birds, but i go to central animal hospital and have been very impressed with dr. samuels. i'd call them and ask about their pricing. perhaps you could also arrange a payment plan? thankfully a cat only needs to be spayed once. :-)

I have heard there are special days to get it done with the Humane Society (and I think my friend said it was $35) but so many people know about it, you have to go really early and wait in line for hours...and you still might not get seen. I would just pay the $65.

sounds like a good price as animal birth control clinic is 68 dollars. the humane society is 65 too. wow. that is kind of lame. everywhere seems to charge an additional fee for cats in heat and pregger kitties.

I understand that animal healthcare can be very expensive, but my pets have always been such a huge part of the family that I could never bargain shop when it came to their health. That doesn't mean you have to spend exorbitant amounts of money, but I always worry about places that offer cheap services. I've heard some horror stories about Humane Society neutering and spaying gone wrong. YMMV

I agree with this -- I've also heard quite a few horror stories of botched Humane Society spaying. I absolutely would not go to them for this.

$65 is a good price but I'd be more concerned about the location & capability of the people involved. Use your best judgement here. :)
