Nice new toy! And especially nice that it has all the needed feet. Fun that we both got to show a monthly drawing prize this week, and that they both included tea.
Yay for a finished quilt AND a new toy!! What a great way to treat yourself with your gift card.
I looked it up...Singer is owned by the same company that owns Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking. :)
For some reason, I thought your new machine came with an extension table. At least you have foam left to make another custom table!
The only thing I would seriously avoid on the new Singer are coiled rope baskets. I am absolutely convinced that is what killed my Baby Lock. It was totally fine until I started doing that and then I taught a class and let a lady use my machine because hers wouldn't do it and it was never the same again.
Edited to add: Awesome prize of purple goodness! Have an awesome time playing with all the features! Also, when in doubt, I have found that there are tutorials specific to almost every modern machine on YouTube.
It did come with en extension table, but I've gotten really spoiled with my GIANT extension table, lol. So I will likely give it a go with just the one it came with first.
Good advice on the baskets! I will make sure if I do those to do them on the Kenmore.
I culdn't find any tutes on this particular model, but I am assuming the dvd will be helpful... hopefully...
Nice new machine to play with! I'd heard that too about Singers but see them around a lot more these days. It's like with Brother - that used to be considered the drek of the sewing machine world but now they're good quality. It really is a huge bonus that it already comes with a walking foot and 1/4" foot among others, that's a nice perk.
Ah, that game...I'm of course disappointed with the outcome, but gotta give respect to the Pats and Tom Brady. That really was impressive.
(Ooops, did this on the old wunnerwmn account while I was clearing some more stuff out, lol!)
I know it won't last forever like the Kenmores, but while it lasts hopefully it will do what I need it to do. That's the plan anyway. You're right about the brothers. I know all the brands make varying levels of machines. The good reviews on this one greatly outweighed the bad ones. Time will tell if it lives up to its reputation.
Atlanta played great... the game just last a REALLY long time. All those guys must have been totally wiped out after that. What a battle!
That's so embarrassing it took me since August to get that in the mail :D Anyway, I hope you can use the things I sent!
Have fun with the new machine! I sometimes think about buying a machine that would be good for travelling with and that would have some fun stitches. (I mostly use my straight stitch only machine too! My old machine has more stuff but I can't get the tension sorted no matter what I try, so I mostly pretend it doesn't exist.)
It was great to get them. I had actually forgotten all about it and had to think why you were sending me goodies, lol.
Honestly, I love all my vintage machines. That's why I'm still hoarding 4 of them, lol. I'm hoping Phebe will want to learn so I can send one onf the smaller ones away to school with her. But honestly I watch those Missouri star video tutorials and I was like... I want to just walk over and sew a block without having to fiddle!
