The quilt is beautiful! Not too sure about the skinny piano keys but it could work. Sew a few of the blue strips together - maybe 6 or so from your scraps - and just hold them up there to see how it will look. It might give you an idea of whether you want to continue with it. I think it would just look like a wide striped border all around and be fine.
Experimented a bit last night with strips varying in width. I like how it looks on its own, but haven't decided if I'm going to continue with it or not. Maybe it will grow on me.

What did you say you were using for binding? I'm looking at the top and thinking of blue piano keys and my brain is adding brown binding as a stop.
Jan's is going to either be the wine quilt with an additional border to make it bigger, or it will be my original PPV. Jay's birthday isn't until June or July of 2018, so I don't even need to think about his this year, just keep it on the radar, thank goodness. I would eventually like to get one to both nephews and my other niece, too, but that can wait. So really once Jan's is done that's probably it besides my own projects and Linus. One thing you can count on is something unexpected coming up, like another great-niece or great-nephew, you never know

Sew retreat... we will figure something out. I was actually looking up retreat centers this morning over my coffee, lol. Let's tentatively shoot for summer. Maybe June. NOT FATHERS DAY, lol. My mission is to get that kid a job for summer. So she can look after kitties and I can go wherever I want. :)
