I am so glad your machine is sewing / quilting properly again. It sucks when it does that. Maybe I missed it, but why do you use the oven liner on your machine, you may have mentioned it, but I can't remember? Still want copy the quilt table idea, just awesome.
There are a couple of products out there designed to make it easier to slide your quilt around while you are doing FMQ. One is called the Supreme Slider, the other is called the SewSlip. It is basically a teflon mat that is slightly sticky on the back to stick to your machine and extension table. I read online where people were using these oven liners instead because they are the same thing, just don't have a sticky back or a hole for the needle. Some people also use a piece of clear vinyl like you would buy to cover a tablecloth outside, you can buy it by the yard. Basically it just gives you a big slick surface on which it's easier to maneuver your quilt while FMQing it. That's also why I covered the foam with contact paper. It's really slick too. With the over liner I just had to mark where the needle was going to go through the liner, and then cut a hole there bigger than the needle hole, like maybe a half-inch. So everything is nice and slippery for ease of movement. It's all about making FMQ easier to do on a small domestic

Thank you, I will be doing that as well now. As I struggle to get my quilts through the machine. But first a MUST build myself a table like yours. The machine is 2.5 inches above the table surface. The needle plate bit. ... Wait a moment, I just had an idea. The machine used to be built into a desk, (yes very old machine) So, maybe I need to ask my dad to cut a hole in the desk so we can lower the sewing machine INTO THE HOLE. Whalah, ready made big table top. Why did not think of this before, so stupid. Then all I have to think about it the liner. ... Now do I wake him up or what ... LOL maybe I need to wait for the morning.
It's a little darker than I'd originally planned, but I will just choose my books fabric accordingly.
I always use my card table, only now i have to raise it up to match the height of the extension table! thank goodness I still had those bed risers in my closet.

The table is helping a bunch! Bought the grey yesterday. It matches the BG fabric so well you can't even see it! However, it stands out more than I would like on the dark backing, but I will live with it.
Love your extension table and the card table trick sounds like it really helps. Background fabric looks good to. I also love the blocks on uour wall right now they are very chic x
Those are my August Birthday blocks, I really need to get those in the mail soon, they've got a long way to go.
Quilting is in progress, and the table is working pretty well. It's still difficult working with such a big quilt on a small machine. I'm planning to do my husband's QAYG, maybe like your PoD, in rows. Or I might do one or two blocks at a time, I haven't decided yet.
